Senior Software Engineer

Areas of Responsibility

· Designing and build comprehensive and robust software architectures that can accommodate the Business partners’ needs

· Software Development and Testing -- implementing new systems, features, and enhancements

· Planning software platforms, setting architectural direction and designing high availability solutions for production software

· Proactively researching and evaluating new technologies with the ability to select best methods and techniques for solving problems

· Presenting technical issues, solutions and project status to senior and executive management

· Serving as an escalation point for technical problems

· Working closely with the QA Team, Producers, System Engineers, Project Managers, Product Development Managers, other internal and external partners to deliver solid applications and smooth product launches.

· Supporting all stages of all software development lifecycle

· Mentoring team members on process and engineering best practices

Required Qualification and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in field

· 3 years of software design and implementation experience

· 4-6 years minimum experience architecting complex, distributed software systems

· Strong Java expertise with a proven ability to write robust, multi-tier commercial applications

· Strong development experience with web technologies; specifically J2EE, Java Servlets, Java Beans, JDBC, SQL, JSP, XHTML, Ajax and XML

· Web Services (SOAP & REST), RSS

· Experience in Responsive/Adaptive

· Knowledge on JSON

Preferred Qualification and Experience

· Knowledge of PHP, and in at least one PHP framework, preferably Zend Framework

· Experience building applications with a strong emphasis on performance, code size, and run-time memory usage

· Procedural scripting languages such as ANT, Maven, JavaScript, VBScript, Perl, PHP, BASH, MS Batch

· SQL, MS SQL Server

· Common delivery and communication technologies including HTTP, SSL, SMTP, UDP, TCP/IP, RMI & Multicast, Cloud Computing (such as AWS)

· Experience with search engine

· Project experience on managing application & web server such as Tomcat, JBoss, Apache HTTPD, IIS

· Hands on experience on using Agile software development methodology

· Source Control systems (e.g. Perforce, CVS, Subversion)

· Content management systems (e.g. GoPublish, WordPress, Hippo)

· Spring MVC

· 3-tier architecture design and development

· System/application debugging

· Media, entertainment and internet business models

Other Skills Required

· Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices & company policies & procedures who resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways

· Ability to provide mentorship to junior members of team

· Ability to work closely with customers to understand their businesses and accurately capture their requirements

· Ability to work on multiple, major projects and deliver on time according to project schedules with minimal management oversight

· Capable of effectively managing and planning time against multiple projects and priorities

· Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

· Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese)
