POSITION TITLE:
Quality Control Technician - Exploration Mid-Market Equipment
PRODUCT AREA
Drilling - Exploration
SCOPE
The role of Quality Control Technician is responsible for the mid-market product line's representation in the core functions as follows:
Perform all duties involved in the Inspection process of Sandvik Mining Exploration Drill rigs
Perform Inspection work as required to a high standard that maintains the integrity of the equipment and does not compromise safe operation
Perform all factory commissioning's to a high standard and sign off as complete where satisfactory
Report all failed components and/or fabrication to the Engineering Manager and complete non-conformance, follow up and resolve
Adhere to all Sandvik Mining Policies & Procedures especially the OH&S and Environmental policies.
Carry out all work in accordance within set budgets and timeframes.
Training of new team members on inspection practices where required.
Carry out any other tasks as directed by your Manager
Reports to: Engineering Manager - Exploration Mid-market
Geographical Territory: Based in Tianjin, China
Authorisations: Authorised to undertake travel regionally where assigned or appropriate to undertake Support Functions as scheduled.
Anticipated travel per year: Less than 25%. It is the responsibility of the Quality Control Technician to ensure the Sandvik policies and procedures are followed for adequate break times and administrative duties are carried out in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety and Environment
·Ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure your own safety and the safety of your fellow workers and associates as it relates to your activities. This includes compliance with the Sandvik Mining safety management program. Where an environment is worked in that exceeds the Sandvik standards they must be adhered to without question.
·Undertake safety observations at the rate determined in performance reviews to contribute to the recognition and resolution of safety related issues in the workplace.
·Take a lead role in identifying and appropriately reporting unsafe machine or product related safety issues.
·When undertaking training, internal or external customer presentations use the opportunity to discuss and or include a safety message to raise awareness.
·Participate in a Safety Leadership Contract with Sandvik to ensure a specific safety culture is continually grown and maintained.
Business Growth and Development
·Understand the changes in product range and application through liaison with the Engineering Manager - Mid-Market.
·Communicate through Engineering Manager any product improvements and general observations.
Financials
·Manage and control expenses within budget against Sandvik Policies.
·Take responsibility for utilising assets and minimising expenses where appropriate.
People Management and Leadership
·Ensure commitment of time is carefully managed to fulfil those commitments in conjunction with your supervisor for good utilisation of team resources.
·Always be aware of any communication with external customers is a chance to improve relationships and show the Sandvik Core Values of Open Mind, Fair Play and Team Spirit.
Customer Service
·Assist other functions from time to time when required.
·As Quality Control personnel our role is of a support function however from time to time we may be required to undertake direct customer support in the form of repairing equipment at a shop level if no option remains to assist the customer achieve equipment performance.

CORE COMPETENCY
Technical Expertise
·Knowledge of OH&S procedures.

·Trade qualification in a mechanical discipline with experience in inspection and Quality control processes.
·Minimum 2 years post trade experience/knowledge.
·Excellent communication skills, Mandarin essential and English is desirable.
·Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
·Some level of computer literacy would be an advantage.
·Provide feedback and make recommendations for analysis in conjunction with the Engineering Manager - Mid-Market.
·Monitor new products to correct design faults and/or implement improvements.
·Ensure accurate documentation of faults and/or improvements are recorded.
