Description:
This Ph.D. scientist will join the Biochemistry group at Roche China in Shanghai and will be part of a global discovery organization to deliver innovative drug candidates for the treatment of infectious diseases. He or she will be responsible for providing exceptional biochemistry results to fulfill the needs of target validation and biochemical evaluation of drug candidate. The candidate will work closely with internal functions and external partners to develop novel technologies including assays and analytic tools to meet various project needs. He or she is also expected to be able to communicate results in oral presentations at internal or external meetings and prepare written reports and manuscripts.

Qualification:

Education/Qualifications
Ph.D in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, or related field with 3+ years of postgraduate experience. Industry experience in drug discovery is strongly preferred.


Leadership Competencies
Previous supervising experience desired but not required.


Job Required Competencies
The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge and hands-on technical skills in characterizing molecular interactions. He or she should be able to utilize various biochemical and biophysical technologies including Biacore, ITC, FRET and FP to analyze protein-ligand interactions and understand the mechanism of actions of drug candidates. Previous experience in protein expression and purification from E. coli, baculovirus and mammalian cells is also desired. Excellent oral and written communication in English and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting is required.
