Brief Description

Reporting to the Engineering Services (ES) Technical Manager. The ES Engineer performs various activities of the Engineering Services team, primarily responsible to support Configuration Management (CM) activities of Products developed by the Engineering Teams, including:

Primary Responsibilities

- Responsible for assignment of document/drawing/part numbers
- Creates structure (engineering bill of materials (eBOM)), ensures drawing standards are met and correct relationships are created.
- Responsible for new release of drawings and parts.
- Supports and manages the creation, processing and reviewing of Change Requests, and Change Notes.
- Responsible for ensuring that all activities are performed in accordance with internal procedures.
- Responsible for liaising with Engineering teams to understand and meet their requirements, provide expert CM advice and provide status reports.
- Responsible for liaising with Technical Writing Services and Data Management to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Services organization.
- Sustain an expert understanding of CM best practices in accordance with EIA-649-B and CM aspects of industry standards including DO-178, DO-254, DO-297, ARP-4754A

Additionally the ES Engineering shall support:
- Data Management (DM): Coordinating and performing formal delivery of Engineering Artifacts to customers in accordance with contractual requirements. Coordinating and performing receipt of formal deliveries of Engineering Artifacts from Suppliers.
- Technical Writing Services (TWS): Supporting generation of Engineering documentation from numerous tools and performing the document release process, in accordance with company standards.
- Supporting preparation of other documentation such as policies, procedures, proposals, etc. consistent with GE-AVIC standards and best practices.
- Support on-going process improvement activities.

Qualifications Required

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or high school diploma/GED with at least three years’ experience in Configuration Management within an Engineering industry, preferable Aviation.
- Strong English language communication (specifically writing) skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Clear logical thinker with ability to follow instruction/procedures rigorously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications Desired

- Configuration Management in accordance with EIA-649-B
- Electronic publishing and printing.
- Data Management/ Business Administration
- Product Lifecycle Management tools (PTC Windchill preferred)
