Expert Senior Commercial Officer for the Furniture and Design Industry.

Position: Commercial Officer for the FDR team – Fashion, Design & Retail

The Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai is seeking an energetic and bright individual to take on a full-time position as Senior Commercial Officer expert experience and know-how of the Chinese Furniture and Design industry.

The Trade Council (TC) is fully integrated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. TC assists and promotes Danish companies’ interests in China. TC consists of 7 different industry teams with around 60 employees in 5 different locations in China. The FDR Team consist of 9 colleagues (part and full time).

You will be working closely with colleagues in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing and we offer a dynamic and inspiring work environment where you need to combine independent work with a high degree of team-work.

The Trade Council provides access to China for Danish companies by a range of services:

 Governmental and Public Affairs

 Market Analysis

 Market Entry Strategies

 Partner Search (Sourcing and Sales)

 Establishment of company in China

 Tax and Legal Counseling including IPR at basic non-attorney level

 Corporate Social Responsibility Consulting

 Events, Seminars, Promotions and Visit Programs

 Industry Networks

We are experience an increase demand for our services from Danish companies exporting to China and a large degree of interest from Chinese companies wanting to represent world renowned Danish furniture and design industries in China.

Job Description

You will provide first-rate consultancy services for Danish enterprises with focus on sustaining the good governmental and commercial relations between Denmark and China. Your work will include:

 Developing ideas, elaborating strategically go-to-market plans and presenting consultancy proposals to Danish companies within the above mentioned service areas.

Helping to locate, establish and maintain contact with national and provincial furniture and design industrial association, lifestyle media and distribution channels in China,

 Planning and execution of projects in relation to the Trade Council’s and the Consulate’s public service obligations as well as the Trade Council’s commercial goals.

 Analysing and advising on commercial opportunities.

 Mediating between Danish companies and local governmental organisations.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for an expert furniture and design team player with at least 4 years of thorough experience in the Chinese furniture and design industry, where you have obtained a wide network to draw upon in assisting the Danish companies.

Furthermore mandatory skills you must either possess or will be able to develop over time:

 Experienced within the industries and governmental affairs in China.

 An established strong network within all areas of the furniture and design industry and governmental organisations in China.

 Experience in selling or executing consultancy services as well as strong commercial sense

 Good communication and sales skills.

 Creative, self-motivated, independent and self-starter by nature.

 Experience in working with foreign enterprises

 Great team player abilities and able to knowledge sharing.

 Structured approach to new tasks and the ability to multitask.

 Excellent command of Mandarin and English both oral and written.

 Solid skills within MS Office and general good IT skills

Additional skills which could be relevant (but not mandatory):

 Bachelor or Master’s Degree in business.

 Experience from privately owned companies or organisations are an advantage.

 International experience, possibly from studies or working abroad or working in an international company.

 Experience working with Chinese officials is an advantage.
