GRAND Studio Ltd. (formerly known as F.E.T.I.S.H.) is design source based in Zurich, Switzerland and in Shanghai, China. As a team of 15 graphic, apparel, and product designers, we are deeply rooted in sports and street culture. We specialize in a wide variety of products within the realm of board and active sports, as well as street fashion. Examples include functional outerwear, sportswear, swimwear, streetwear, shoes and accessories, as well as graphic and marketing elements such as print and pattern design, labeling, and hangtags.

The GRAND Studio Asia Branch was established in February 2012. Today the studio, located in the attractive ‘French Concession’ in Shanghai, has a staff of 3 Chinese fashion designers and one Swiss graphic designer. This team works for Chinese clients and also supports the Swiss designers in elaborating on the technical files for European clients.

We are looking for a highly talented individual, comfortable with preparing and presenting concepts and designing across a broad range of technical outerwear and accessories. The candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of the products, as well as a passion for outdoor sports, as personal experience is a major contributor to the design process. Leadership skills and knowledge in administrative matters is essential.

As a Managing Director you should have the skills to fulfill the following main tasks:

1. Creative direction to lead independent design projects
- Ability to analyze a brand and its position within the market
- Ability to conceive, visualize, and communicate custom made collection for our clients as well as new trends (including trend relevance analysis)

2. Lead the Chinese design team in order to fulfill these design projects
- Ability to design coherent collections with a team, including innovation in fabrics, trims, color, graphics, silhouettes, and features
- Ability to follow prototype development and to communicate with the customer

3. Cultivate the relationship to the existing clients and acquire new Asian clients
- Talented in convincing creative directors and owners of brands

4. Manage the Asian Studio including administrative work
- The studio is a decent size, so as a managing director you have all kinds of administrative responsibilities, such as invoicing, accounts receivable entry control, HR, control payments (you will do this together with external accountants).

In order to qualify for this job, you have:

- a degree in fashion or product design
- 5+ years experience designing technical products and/or outerwear
- experience in working within the Chinese market
- fluency in English (both written and spoken) and ideally Mandarin
- knowledge in Mac platforms, (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Excel)
- current and historical knowledge of endemic industry and market trends, as well as target consumers
- the flexibility for market travel
- the character of being very organized and detail-oriented
- experience in managing a team
- commercial and administrative knowledge
- the talent to convince existing and potential clients
