JOB PROFILE and DESCRIPTION

Director of Operations is responsible for strategic planning and management of plant operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards of the business. Direct team to continuously improve the manufacturing process, eliminating non-value added activities. Individual is expected to lead the manufacturing team in Shanghai plant, executing the strategic plan developed with direction from leadership of management team in Hamden Connecticut USA to achieve goals and objectives. Must be growth oriented individual who has focus and internal drive to never settle for the current state and continually drive team to perform to maximum potential in order to meet aggressive production growth goals.

CORE COMPETENCIES-Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelors or Master's degree preferred in Business or Engineering major.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to effectively manage teams and strategically plan for aggressive growth of sales and production levels annually.
• Effective communication skills both internal and external to the business unit.
• Strong analytical skills-ability to analyze data pertinent to the situation and identify cause and effect relationship. Ability to make decisions based on data and drive action to improve organization operations maximizing overall business unit performance.
• Strategic leader utilizing ability to visualize and lead team resulting in achieving aggressive annual sales and production goals of the business unit.
• Detail oriented individual able to develop and execute projects on time and on budget consistent with organizations strategic growth goals.
• Proficient in English-both written and verbal skills. Communicate details effectively with local and international coworkers.
• 5-10 years of progressive manufacturing experience culminating in Director of Operations or Plant Manager experience - preferred multinational company experience.
• Lean manufacturing experience or exposure to lean concepts.

FUNCTIONAL SCOPE

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Utilize resources of the business unit to meet the goals for production of the company. Achieve production and sales goals within budget while meeting the safety, quality, delivery and cost standards of Spectra-Strip.

2. Develop budget to execute strategic plan, managing spending to fully utilize resources to meet Business Unit sales, profitability, and growth objectives.

3. Drive continual improvement in safety and quality of processes and products across all functional areas in order to maximize plant operations. Insure consistent with SSH processes, transferring best practices between plants.

4. Oversee production process developing and executing production scheduling in coordination with sales and Hamden CT leadership team.

5. Lead SSC development and execution of detailed action and project plans, completing on time and on budget resulting in growing the business and achieving plant and business goals and objectives

6. Insure the alignment of the Shanghai plant with SSH and Amphenol vision, purpose, and priorities for the business.

7. Drive and support development and implementing standard operating procedures for all production operations.

8. Conduct performance appraisals providing feedback on performance through assessing skills and documenting development plans in coordination with HR.

9. Ability to set expectations and manage others through delegation of responsibility, follow up, and holding others accountable.

10. Establish group and individual accountability and development utilizing coaching and timely feedback on performance and decision making abilities.

11. Communication and interpersonal skills-demonstrated ability to lead and resolve conflicts. Develop and administer company policies consistently and fairly in coordination with SSC and SSH HR departments.

12. Lead group and individual problem solving implementing poke-yoke or error proofing corrective actions utilizing data. Effectively summarize root cause and corrective action for issues to Management team of SS.
