The Role:
Summary of Position: Reporting to sourcing and purchase manager, the junior merchandiser will have to source, qualify, visit a various range of suppliers in order to ensure that the trading have access to a high quality, high availability and reliable network of suppliers located in China.
Once the merchandiser acquire a good knowledge of each product families to source, he will have also to pro-actively propose new product to source, fitting is the general product lines guidelines, in order to complete in an efficient way the trading product offer and make it more comprehensive.


The primary accountabilities include:

SOURCING :
- Definition with the management of the product list to source, timing to complete the task, and expected output in term of quality / price / MOQ / lead time
- Source through various channels (internet, directory, fairs, exhibition…) a minimum of 3 suppliers that comply with the guidelines set.
- Qualify the supplier (company and products) following the company quality standard through questionnaire and visits
- Qualify the main vendor, fill the database with all relevant information and order sample for final quality check.
- Negotiate price and MOQ under the supervision of the purchase manager
- Apply constant improvement approach to all aspect of the sourcing, in order to improve the supplier quality, or the product information, or the sourcing process itself.
- Type of products involved : safety, hospitality, security, home textile, furniture, power supply

ORDER FOLLOW UP :
- Process the order requested by the purchase manager
- Initiate and follow up the order (order, delivery time, payment date, packaging..) through the ERP system
- Organize Quality inspection in cooperation with the Quality dpt
- Send weekly update to requestor with relevant information on the on going transaction

Key Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Very good English speaking & writing and Comfortable in working in a international environment
- Good analytical skill, pro-active and able to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal skill
- Customer oriented with a business sense
- Result driven
- Similar background is a must
- Background in one of the product families will be a plus

Education & Experience Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Business school degree graduated
- 3 - 5 years experience in similar position
