Position Title: Sr. Industrial Designer
Location: Shanghai, China


FLIR Systems, Inc. is the global leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of infrared cameras and thermal imaging systems. Our products play pivotal roles in a wide range of industrial, commercial, and government activities in more than 60 countries.
As a senior Industrial Designer in FLIR, you must have excellent design sense, communication and organization skills with the ability to work across teams, and be influential in setting the path for advanced product development initiatives.

BASIC FUNCTION & SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Capable of all kinds of design research and can help the team with project background understanding and trend analysis.
Capable of creating highly innovative ideas, experience and of translating them from idea sparks into great concepts and develop them into real products.
Collaborate with engineers and consultancies on product realization and design quality control in mass production.
Work closely with product strategic department and branding specialist on design language definition.




REQUIRED SKILLS

Expert in concept visualization, communication and presentation.
Proficient in 2D (Photoshop/Illustrator/CorelDraw) and 3D (Rhino/Alias/SolidWorks)
Proficient in 3D rendering with accurate expression of different materials and finish.
Demonstrate ability to generate new concepts and bring fresh ideas to the team.
Understand the product development cycle and demonstrate empathy for the manufacturing process.
Strong, verbal, written and visual presentation skills in English and can use this language for daily communication.
Ability to travel if required (both domestic or international).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
BA in Industrial Design, masters preferred.
Stays abreast with design trends, techniques & standards.
Solid knowledge of industrial design, material and manufacture.
A minimum of 5 years work experience in industrial design and consumer product development with a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity in successful products on the market, versatility with design and rapid prototyping tools.

A heavy weight portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in successful product design is a must (preferred in PDF).
