A Chinese co-teacher is required for the Early Years section of school, beginning as soon as possible. WISS uses a co-teacher model for classroom teachers that promotes and supports differentiated instruction and allows teachers to cater specifically for a variety of student needs. While both classroom co-teachers are trained and experienced teachers, one teacher is an international co-teacher and the other is a Chinese co-teacher. Both teachers work together to deliver the curriculum to our students. Candidates should be trained and qualified to teach in Early Years and have previous experience of working in an early childhood setting. The Western International School of Shanghai is a new independent, co-educational school, which will offer an international curriculum for Nursery through Grade 13, taught by experienced and caring international staff. In our opening year 2006-2007, we will be accepting applications for Nursery through Grade 3 and expanding upward in the ensuing years. WISS is exploring the PYP, MYP and Diploma programs of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) in order to apply for candidacy status. Maximum class size will be 18 students taught by a team of two highly qualified and experienced teachers.

Our school will be located in Xu Jing Town of the up-and-coming Qing Pu district, west of Shanghai, approximately 20 minutes from Hong Qiao Airport and the New Gubei Area. We are right next to Le Chambord housing development. WISS will offer internationally designed facilities for academics, athletics, arts and future boarding students.

We seek experienced, caring, highly qualified teachers, preferably with MA degrees or further study in education. We also seek teachers who are trained and experienced in the IB PYP program, though we offer professional development opportunities for all staff.
