Job Description
· Responsibilities will include on-site support for Enterprise customers in China, specifically the Regional OEM, big system integrator. This would include video surveillance and Consumer Electronics market.
· local contact point for all design related, qualification related issues and concerns for the assigned customer.
· Ability to understand the customer system architecture capability and requirements and be able to recommend the right products for the appropriate storage tier and storage options, taking into consideration the pros and cons of each approach.
· Manage and coordinate all activities at the customer’s R&D and qualification engineering sites. Provide technical leadership to the WD engineering team to ensure successful product qualifications. This may involve international sites and co-ordination with FAEs in across the world with regards to storage capacity points, getting onto AVL list at targeted customer and getting customer to broadcast approval to their S.I.s.
· Able to leverage on mix of skills to fully understand and resolve issues
· Have a good understanding of the competitive landscape and input to corporate on the strategy and tactics of the competition from a technical perspective.
· Understand and feedback customer product roadmap to WD corporate. Able to identify, distill future system requirements into specific WD product families, function and features and recommend the best fit product for the customer application.
· local contact for all quality related issues and concerns for the assigned accounts.
· Manage and coordinate all activities at the customer’s manufacturing and/or field return sites with respect to quality initiatives and requirements.
· Chair required product qualification and quality review meetings with customer.
· Provide factory performance and quality data as required by customer.
· On going monitoring of customer line and/or field data. Responsible for developing and driving the necessary actions to ensure best in class performance.
· Lead the FA sample selection process to ensure that a representative sample of the top pareto failures are returned to WD for root cause analysis.
· Perform line audits of the customer’s manufacturing lines to minimize process-induced damage. Focus on ESD and handling practices. Provide training as necessary.
· Manage the customers’ overall perception of WD quality.
· Develop and drive a continuous improvement plan to exceed customer expectation.
· Maintain and solidify relationships with customers.
· Complete other assigned projects and responsibilities.


Requirements
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
· A minimum of eight years experience in customer support, hard drive quality applications, manufacturing, failure analysis and statistical applications. Minimum of 3 years in a vendor environment is required.

Specific knowledge

· Hard disk drive industry- business environment and challenges, products, competitors and suppliers PC market and market directions- business environment and challenges, products and competitors.In depth understanding of system components, operating environments and system design considerations and compromises.
· Specific knowledge of the enterprise market, working in a vendor position and have a good understanding of large enterprise architecture, uptime considerations leading to the appropriate architecture required to support the redundancy, uptime and support stipulated.
· Preferred to have prior end user experience in terms of system management, administration, maintenance and support.
· Combination of hardware and software expertise, plus mechanical expertise to be able to assess system related issues.
· CE market knowledge especially in the market trends, players, competition in the set top box, DVR, etc market. Need to have indepth video system design and architecture, understanding especially in relation to compression, transfer and utilizing hard disk as the primary storage device
· Strong technical knowledge of hard disk drive design, system architectures deploying FC, SAS/SATA storage interfaces and the various architecture options in terms of deployment of JBODs, RAIDs, SAN, NAS.
· Strong technical knowledge in terms of various hardware options of duplicators, expanders and multiplexors.
· Strong understanding the underlying OS used to support the architecture defined.
· Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques/processes for systems.
· Skilled in software usage required.
