Tasks Description

The Senior Process & Plant Safety Engineer (Senior PPS Engineer) will provide specialist PPS expertise to customers of the Bayer subgroups and external clients, primarily in the region Asia/Pacific. He/she will be responsible for and lead systematic process hazard analysis in order to design holistic safety concepts which ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations. Furthermore, the Senior PPS Engineer will give support, consultancy and trainings in PPS relevant topics such as process and chemical hazard prevention, fire and explosion prevention and functional safety. These services will be provided in projects as well as in day-to-day operational business.

The job holder
1) leads, supports, documents process hazard analysis and safety reviews using up-to-date methodologies (inland & abroad);
2) conceptualize safety measures which ensure safe, reliable and
efficient operations;
3) supports projects as well as daily operational business with regard to PPS related topics by taking a leadership role in process safety;
4) provides PPS trainings and individual coaching for internal and
external clients;
5) increases availability and accessibility of PPS expertise in the
region APAC;

The job holder
1) has minimum 8 years of industrial experience with a strong focus on Process & Plant Safety;
2) holds a Bachelor Degree in an appropriate technical discipline
(Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or equivalent)
3) has experience in applying process hazard analysis methodologies, risk identification and assessment techniques;
4) has specific expertise in fields such as process and chemical hazard prevention, fire and explosion prevention, functional safety, pressure relief design, modeling and calculations of hazards and consequences, permit issues;
5) has excellent communication skills and persuasive power;
6) is able to work standalone in challenging situations;
7) must be able to speak, read, write English fluently in order to
perform the essential job functions;
8) works independently;
9) is able to work in a multi-cultural environment;
10) is prepared to travel and work abroad
