PRIMARY FUNCTION
Creates innovative, brand right washed products in partnership with business partners. Drives development according to Target process and calendar. Partner with BP to develop denim and non-denim wash based on inspiration and technical specifications to ensure product performance expectations. Model, develop and coach team on implementing wash development initiatives to deliver superior product and drive incremental sales.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Research
· Maintain a proficient knowledge of government requirements, safety protocols and Target performance standards for textiles and assigned categories in particular.
· Lead and drive the understanding of benchmark’s performance standards and ensure Target meets or exceeds the competitor's product for assigned categories.
· Drive the communication of Target’s standards to internal and external partners
· Model and lead team in providing expertise to business partners in achieving Target’s development standards
· Remain current in industry-leading textile practices and equipment advances in assigned categories
· Drive partnership with Suppliers, Vendors, Fiber, Chemical companies, R&D Specialist and industry contacts in maintaining fabric and wash related awareness of trend, innovation and new technology including yarns, fabrics, manufacturing advances and applications for assigned categories
· Lead team in maintaining working knowledge of BP’s capabilities
2. Wash Development
· Model and lead team in providing expertise to ensure the routing of efficient and effective development of wash technical specifications to include as appropriate: dry and wet processes to comply with aesthetic needs and stated performance standards for end use
· Lead team and BP in the development of apparel fabrications and washes that continuously exceeds guest expectations, align to assortment pricing strategies, maintains consistency in brand quality across product categories and supports ongoing innovation and differentiation of the brand
· Manage generic wash recipes and physical libraries for assigned categories with approved denim and wash specifications for use.
· Model and lead the management of technical approval process with BP, ensuring appropriate and timely washed samples submissions and validating development testing results.
· Lead team to provide timely resolution to all issues relating to wash development of denim and non-denim.
· Guide team in supporting Standard Fabric Menus for assigned categories. Guide Fabric Sourcing & Garment Sourcing in optimal utilization of the Standard fabrications. By initiating different wash techniques for maximize the utilization of standard denim fabrics.
· Provide technical expertise, as needed, for Engineering Team, Global Fabric Sourcing & Garment Sourcing teams.
· Pre-screen of wash submits and review the wash packets routed for helping troubleshoot
3. Training
· Lead development and training for BP Wash Technician Training regarding Target’s wash development or quality processes and expectations
· Run reports to understand and elevate BP’s wash Performance and identify training needs
4. Team Management
· May manage 1-2 team members
· Manage team workload and resource allocation.
· Responsible for training of direct reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
4 year degree in Textiles or equivalent work experience
Minimum 4-6 years experience in wash manufacturing or development
Proficient technical knowledge of fabric dyeing, washing, printing and finishing.
Strong understanding of the manufacture (cut and sew) of apparel garments.
