Basic Function / General Description:
- This Manager will participate in the sourcing decisions of integrated product development teams to ensure that suppliers selected as part of low cost sourcing or new product development initiatives consistently meet company's expectations and Quality/Reliability requirements. Source selection participation includes evaluation of supplier quality system capability, manufacturing process capability and environmental responsibility.
- This Manager, working with colleagues in Engineering and Supply Chain, will be responsible for part qualification activities for low cost sourcing or new product.
- Both new suppliers selected as part of new product development programs and low cost sourcing projects, as well as those incumbent to the supply base, are candidates for on-going development activity. This shall include development of control plans to ensure quality control of critical characteristics, improvements of quality control processes and programs, manufacturing Kaizen initiatives, value stream mapping, optimization of the supplier's own supply sources and any other activities necessary to close gaps to expected supplier performance.
- The Manager shall conduct periodic on site audits of specifically identified suppliers making critical elevator safety components and focus on critical characteristics control & capability.
- The Manager will be responsible for leading deployment of supplier quality development programs in China, such as the Supplier Performance Program/Supplier Gold, the Supplier Employee, Health and Safety Program, including training of supplier and Otis associate personnel.

Duties, Responsibilities & Authorities:
- Leading the production part approval process (PQCS & PQPW).

- Leading the development of control plans to ensure quality control of critical characteristics, improvements of quality control processes and programs, manufacturing Kaizen initiatives; include tier 2 & tier 3 critical components & suppliers.
- Leading Process Audit for critical processes / components / suppliers.
- Leading the Q+ supplier quality evaluation program including organizing, leading and conducting audits, audit training and developing appropriate reporting systems.
- Monitoring supplier performance, driving the improvement, and leading the root cause analysis.
- Developing and conducting training for supplier and Otis associates related to corporate supplier development and supplier performance requirements tools.
- Writing, developing and deploying supplier development standard work as required.
- Lead /participate in ACE initiatives and apply ACE tools into SQD daily work and task.
Accountability & measures:
- Job performance will be measured in accordance with supplier PPM & Escapes, MFA's of Otis factories and suppliers, on time completion of PQCS / PQPW per program timeline.

Work experience & skills requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing quality control or supplier development position; or minimum of 5 years experience in industrial engineering or process engineering or manufacturing engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both Chinese and English.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to independently organize tasks and work to a project plan.
- Self-motivated and able to handle pressure
- Good business operations and new product development knowledge.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, statistical process control and advanced quality planning tools such FMEAs, control plans, control charts. Ppk/Cpk studies & analysis, manufacturing flow charts and measurement systems.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills; knowledge of, and experience with, fishbone, 5 why analysis, pareto analysis and other problem solving tools.
- Knowledge of and experience with lean manufacturing concepts and/or Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with quality system evaluation criteria such as TS16949 preferred.

Educational Requirements:
Professional Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical / Material Engineering or equivalent
