Costing / Analytics Engineer
The function of Cost Engineer is typically dealing with all aspects of costing, from pre calculating what a supplier component and/or product should cost to finalizing the total cost ownership (TCO) of a product. It is spanning the product costing, from BOM and added value cost. It involves several skills like:
1. Accurately questioning what efforts are involved and putting cost to it (Should Cost modeling) and compare these to benchmarks.
2. Provide cost estimates in support of purchase negotiations, target setting and product cost forecasts
3. Generate cost breakdown templates for technology families to reflect their cost driven.
4. Industrial experience with labor intensive processes (estimation of added value)
5. Industrial experience with mechanized processes and related toolings (plastic, sheet metal, machining, casting, cable and etc.)
6. Take the lead role in annual cost down target setting and product cost reduction roadmap.
7. Ability to set up decision calculations based on the factors that can be influenced by the decision, like the fluctuate of raw material market.
8. Target costing with new products (total cost)
9. Take the leader in cost reduction workshop.
10. Routinely use the price and cost forecasting tool, of the on line IHS Global Insight system, to analyze product costs and material price forecasting
11. Generate cost justifications for the sourcing of items that require capital tooling expenditures
12. Conduct spend analysis in SAP for items with suppliers outside of China to identify potential candidates to source in China at a significant savings
13. Manage, track and communicate the China perspective of the on line D & B Supplier Risk Manager risk monitoring system
Qualifications/ Capabilities:
· Preference will be given to previous experience in mechanical industries.
· Able to work independently with minimum supervision as well as productively in a team environment
· Preference will be given to previous experience in the product cost management, manufacturing engineering, or design area.
· Adept at Microsoft Excel
Prior use of on-line price and costing tools is preferred
· A good understanding of product cost accounting will be needed
· Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in related field
· BS in Engineering required.
· Some travel will be required (est. 15-30%)
·Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, as well as proficiency in making presentations required. · Good PC skills is a must
