Day to Day Responsibilities:

• During Design activities, consider material, processes and activities to minimize negative impact to the environment; i.e. eliminate or minimize use of solvent, chemical process which creates dangerous by-products. Consider design options or features which facilitate recycling.
• Plans and conducts maintenance of line activities related to product design.
• May provide product design assistance to other engineers in development projects.
• Develops or transfer new process, and conduct trouble shooting on product process;
• Cost reduction on existing process;
• Develops and modifies product design documentation, builds engineering models and prototypes.
• Conducts periodic meetings with plant personnel to insure project coordination and communication.
• Writes product specifications, component specifications, material specifications, and customer related documentation.
• Assists in training of other plant personnel in relation to product assembly and test requirements.
• Documents and presents written and oral reports including memos and technical reports.
• Coordinates with inside or outside Supplier engineers to specify new injection molds or modifications to existing molds.

Education & Experience

Education:

• Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, Master degree is a PLUS.
• Fluent in English both spoken and written.

Experience:

• 8 to 10 years’ developing & engineering experience.
• 3 year’s project management experience
• 6 to 8 years of 3D-CAD design experience (Pro-Engineer is preferred)
• Specialized training or the equivalent with at least 5 years’ experience in sheet-metal or plastic part design, mold design, injection molding processes, polymer material selection is a PLUS

• Develop and complete reports, presentations, spreadsheets and graphics using a PC with related software.

Desired Skills

• Polymer material knowledge and related experience
• 3D- CAD design experience. Familiar with Pro-E software
• Optical science knowledge
