Area of Responsibility
? It is the responsibility of the employee to safely and diligently perform the duties assigned to the above position as set out hereunder;
? The Coating Inspector shall be responsible for monitoring the daily activities of the Contractor’s Coating Inspectors;
? Provide technical support to resolve issues in relation to the Contractor’s blasting and painting operations.
Safety
? The Coating Inspector will be required to conduct all work related activities in such a manner that the health and safety of all persons on the work site be of his prime concern;
? All personnel shall be mindful of the condition and protection of the environment at all times;
? All personnel are empowered to stop the work and highlight any safety or environmental deficiencies of any kind which may occur in the execution of the work by contractors, sub-contractors and/or vendors;
? All accidents shall be reported.
General Duties
The Coating Inspector will be required to:
? Comply with all applicable safety instructions and procedures;
? Ensure effective implementation of project procedures in accordance with the Contractor’s Project Quality Plan;
? Ensure that in all matters due diligence is observed at all times and initiatives taken to secure the required results;
? Ensure that all information, both written and spoken, obtained in the course of the work is handled with confidentiality;
? Ensure that the work is carried out in a professional manner and in compliance with applicable contracts, Company policies and relevant laws and regulations;
? Actively monitor work in progress, identify problem areas and provide technical solutions;
? Ensure wherever possible completion within time and budget of assigned projects tasks;
? Bring forward suggestions for improvements within the areas of responsibility;
? Undertake any other work and/or responsibilities as may be required to assist the project.
Specific Duties
The Coating Inspector shall also be required to:
? Monitor the Contractor QC activities associated with blasting and painting operations;
? Monitor the receipt, preservation and handling of coating materials and equipment procured by the Contractor;
? Ensure effective implementation of ITPs and attend at Witness and Hold points as and when notified by the Contractor;
? Provide proactive attendance during coating system qualifications;
? Review and approve proposed coating systems;
? Inspection of works in progress, specifically the preparation of steelwork and the application of coating systems by the Contractor, to ensure compliance with project specified requirements;
? Regular review of coating records;
? Providing input to progress reporting as required;
? Attend and participate in all necessary QC team meetings;
? Assist and provide QC support to the Company site team in clarification / resolution on issues related to blasting and painting;
? If necessary provide assistance and participate as required in monitoring the offsite coating activities of the Contractor’s sub-vendors.
Education and Experience
? Formal qualifications in Coating Inspection (NACE preferred);
? Suitably experience and conversance with Industry Codes and Standards such as NACE, SSPC, ISO 1461, 8501-1, 2409,4625,RAL and relevant EN standards;
? Good understanding of QA/QC requirements for final documentation on oil & gas related construction projects;
? Minimum 15 years hands on experience as a Coating Inspector on major construction projects with minimum 5 years in a supervisory role;
? Working knowledge and experience of the application of Passive Fire Protection;
? Working knowledge and experience of the application of cryogenic insulation.

? Proactive approach to resolving quality issues;
? Basic computing skills and working knowledge of MS Office Word/Excel;
? Formal safety training;
? Effective communication and reporting skills;
? Previous experience of working within multicultural organization.
