Objective:
Develop key automotive OEMs in China for BASF's business with cathode materials for Lithium Ion batteries. Understand their organization, strategy and development pipeline for battery electric vehicles. Build up strong and intense relation with theses customers (both on technical and commercial level). Ensure the business success of BASF in this emerging market of electromobility in China.
Main Tasks:
Identify strategy, business development and project pipeline for battery electric vehicles at Chinese OEMs
Understand OEM's organization and identify key contacts for BASF in all important divisions
Understand OEMs supply strategy, supply chain and their supplier base
Undestand OEMs project matrix and identify business opportunities in the field of Lithium ion batteries
Intoduce cathode materials from BASF to automotive OEMs in China
Manage qualification projects for BASF's cathode materials at automotive OEMs. Become the interface between customer's organization and BASF
Create and execute project management plans for qualification projects. Manage intercultural project teams within BASF
Forward "voice of customer" into BASF' organization
Initiate and manage joint-development programs with customers with the goal to create unique solutions that allow high profitablility for BASF
Negotiate multy-years sales contracts with key customers taking on-board all necesssary ressources in BASF (e.g. quality management, production, supply chain, finance..)
Regular domestic travel to customers (approx. 50% of working time). Only little international travel
Become a member of both China's local BASF team as well as BASF's global Battery Material's Team
Work closely with other BASF development teams, e.g. for electrolytes, dealing with the same customer
Qualifications:
Bachelor in Engineering or Chemistry as minimum requirement
Minimum 5 years of technical development (project driven) or business development experience with diverse customer relationships in automotive industry. Sales/marketing experience is an additional asset.
Comprehensive exposures in multicultrual working environment and handling international and local accounts are necessary. Demonstrated track record for technology development and project management.
Thorough understanding of complex organisations at automotive OEMs and their decision making process.
Proven ability to identify new business opportunities and to develop appropriate strategies and relationships that deliver future sales.
Proven ability to manage complex, multi-years development projects between OEMs and suppliers with the goal to create sustainable business.
Must possess superior communication, interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with key decision makers at all levels at both customer and internal management. 5. Demonstrated strategic thinking ability and demonstrated ability to implement business plans.
Good English language skills (all documentation will be in English)
