INTRODUCTION
Urban Art Projects, which is based in both Australia and China, is currently seeking a passionate and skilled new Curatorial Lead to join the team in our Shanghai studio.
The Curatorial & Art Strategy team are a vital component in UAP’s ability to successful deliver art projects for the public realm. Applicants will be passionate and have knowledge of, benchmark public art projects, emerging and established artists both nationally and internationally. They will also have a strong desire to work collaboratively with & for, a variety of creative professionals including but not limited External Curators, Artists, Designers and Built Environment Practitioners.
This position provides the successful applicant with the opportunity to help deliver public art projects of significance on both a national and international stage.
Business Development Support
* Attend briefings with BDMs to assess project opportunities and identify projects that require curatorial involvement
* Undertake research, benchmarking, vision workshops, etc
* Collaborate with BDMs to develop conceptual direction of sales responses
* Assist in the development of targeted/tailored sales responses (EOIs, offers, tailored capability statements etc )
* Assist in the development, review and update of relevant support documents
Project Planning
* Collaborate internally to develop project programs
* Identify & Construct budgets for artwork opportunities and artist fees
* Develop initial project delivery methodology
Artwork Strategies
* Undertake research and benchmarking
* Develop conceptual direction and curatorial framework
* Produce Art Strategy and Artist Selection Documents
* Develop knowledge of key local and state government public art guidelines/strategies etc
Curatorial

* Invite and collaborate with guest curators as required
* Lead curatorial direction on select projects
* Research, develop and maintain artist/designer database
* Undertake ongoing curatorial research
* Develop relationships and liaise with gallery and artists
Artist/Designer Liaison
* Source and procure appropriate artists/designers
* Develop Artist/Designer Briefs and assist briefing sessions
*Assist in the management of artist contractual relationships on behalf of the client/UAP throughout entire artwork commissioning process
* Collaborate with Design Team to liaise with artists through commissioning process
Design Team Support
* Brief Design and Project Management Teams about project direction
* Collaborate with Design Team to brief artist/designer
* Provide curatorial input as required
* Review design presentation and provide input
* Attend design presentation if required
