Fonssino (previously known as Portland Global Sourcing) was established in 2007 to support our clients seeking to drive benefits from sourcing global markets, primarily China and other Asian countries, but also including Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Sourcing Engineer - Analyst

Analysts are expected to demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, able to isolate key issues and draw sound conclusions from large volumes of data gather from the market regarding engineering/technical related categories and suppliers. Equally important is the ability to prioritise their own work producing required deliverables effectively, accurately and on time. Team work skills are essential, being able to support and take direction.

Education

• Demonstrated academic achievement in tertiary qualifications including Engineering, Science (Chemistry), Trading, Business or Economics

Experience & Competence necessary

• Experience in sourcing or procurement for trading, corporate or professional services environment is preferred
• Analytically strong
• Interest and capability in working with operational issues
• Confident ability to priorities own work often within tight deadlines
• Ability to work in teams and take direction
• Proficient in the use of MS Powerpoint, Excel and ideally MS Access
• Proficient in Mandarin and English (spoken and written)

While many organisations buy from global sources, this is frequently done through trading companies and other intermediaries with clients having limited skills and resources to go direct to sources of supply. Our global sourcing services are designed to get clients closer to the actual source of supply and provide clients the ability to effectively select and manage these suppliers to reduce cost and supply risk. This is achieved through deployment of our capabilities that include:
?Access to leading edge supply market knowledge through our team of deep subject matter experts in China/Asia sourcing
?Access to strategic sourcing capability close to potential suppliers where our multilingual team is able to conduct a robust sourcing process that aligns with client’s processes in Australia and other developed countries to drive benefits
?Access to our extensive supply chain management skills, including logistics planning and management, quality management and supplier relationship management

We are not a trading business. Where requested we ‘pull’ product into the market based on specific client orders & requests, not ‘push’ product into the market to sell at lowest cost. We provide bespoke, flexible solutions for our clients which can incorporate elements of both project-based (consulting) services and managed services, depending on the desired outcomes.
