JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is for a database performance engineer to work on the Network Monitoring applications performance engineering team. 24x7 monitoring of telecommunications networks requires a significant amount of data storage to accurately archive and retrieve the business intelligence data demanded by the Tier I/II operators using our solutions. This position is focused on achieving increasingly higher throughput and more efficient access to that data for our applications in order for our applications to keep up with the rapid explosion of mobile data and Internet traffic. Typical system sizes for our deployments exceed 100TB of storage with over 12,000 IOPS and over 30 Gbps of throughput. Responsibilities include:

？ Analyzing current database performance bottlenecks and providing higher performing designs.
？ Debugging performance issues in our customer's production databases
？ Collaborating with Architecture and Development teams on new feature and new product designs to ensure DB performance is achieved as part of the initial designs.
？ Working closely with other performance engineers to optimize the end-to-end data processing chains within our applications.
？ Developing proof-of-concept data designs for new applications and storage subsystems.
？ Developing automated test tools to validate performance gains/losses during development cycles.
？ Working closely with System Design and Testing engineers to accurately measure performance and develop reliable product capacity guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
？ 8-10 years’ experience as Oracle DB Performance engineer or equivalent
？ Expert level knowledge in big data writes required
？ Intermediate to expert level knowledge in big data reads required
？ Exadata experience preferred
？ Experience with columnar databases preferred
？ Experience working with offshore teams required
？ Experience in telecommunications (2G, 3G, 4G, VoIP, IMS, SS7) a plus
？ Java / C++ experience a plus
？ Ability to independently manage your own workload
？ High level of teamwork
