Position description
Lead and organize the development of mechanics end-to-end at optimal costs with emphasis on cooperation in the matrix organization. Coordinate and assign work packages to other engineers as well as external partners on a worldwide level.
Plan and control budget, estimate and control R&D in alignment.
Develop mechanical drawing-set (customer-, manufacturing-, supplier-drawings) according to worldwide standards as well as product function analysis
Design mechanical / electro-mechanical components using 3D CAD software (Catia) for automotive interior body electronics products (e.g. immobilizers, car keys, electronic control units, metal brackets, start-stop buttons)
Perform tolerance studies for all assemblies to guarantee the proper fit and function of components
Perform structural calculation for designs and verify the results by doing engineering testing
Closely cooperate with global manufacturing locations in order to ensure proper line set-up
Cooperate with both local and worldwide suppliers for all purchased parts from concept phase until part release
Work-out design concepts for new project acquisitions
Represent mechanical design department in project team meetings and ensure the timely completion of all assigned development tasks
Requirements
Master or Bachelor degree, major in Mechanical Engineering or similar
7+ years work experience in mechanical design, automotive industry background is preferred
Minimum 5 relevant projects completed
Team leading experience (motivating, decision making, etc)
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes of "injection molding", "metal stamping" additional knowledge of decorative processes is a plus
Capable to cope with high workload situations
Capable to present / explain technical contents in a structured way
Capable to attend technical meetings with worldwide supply base as well as to communicate with international teams
Good oral and written English skills
