Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to apply basic and advanced principles of Test
Engineering to design, develop and implement methods of validation and verification for
Water Quality Instrumentation during the research, development and maintenance
lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include new product development by providing
electrical engineering and/or firmware support.
Essential Functions:
Design, develop and execute validation and regression test strategies.
Design, develop and maintain verification test systems and applications.
Interface with Marketing on customer requirements and product specifications.
Troubleshoot, track and correct identified issues in new and existing products.
Assist in new product development and sustaining activities.
Take leadership role in quality initiatives as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Non-Essential Functions
Design, develop and document real-time embedded software applications.
Assist in hardware development as it pertains to embedded software.
Interface with Manufacturing, Marketing and Service on product related problems to
maintain good information exchange for problem prioritization, resolution and follow up.
Education, Background and Skill Requirements
BS with a minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience or an MS with 5 years of
directly relevant experience; electrical/computer engineering preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in test software application development
Strong understanding of embedded systems and software development
Proficient in C/C++ and Labview.
Proficient in the use of standard test and measurement equipment.
Basic understanding of hardware prototype bring-up, debug and fault detection.
Basic understanding of communication interfaces such as RS232, TCP/IP and USB.
? Hold validation kick-off meetings with BU R&D and program management
? Hold validation readiness reviews with BU R&D and program management
? Develop reliability / EMC test plans with guidance from test engineering
? Drive reliability / EMC testing to timely completion (internally and externally)
? Complete required test reports
? Open and assign corrective action reports (8D report for example)
? Provide recommendation and review of potential tests to be executed
? Seek opportunites to eliminate unnecessary and redundant testing
? Attend program design reviews and use technical training to identify potential reliability concerns
