Job Description:
Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research (NIBR) is a world leader in pharmaceutical research with a widely recognized culture for nurturing innovation and scientific excellence.
China NIBR based in Shanghai is dedicated to the research and development of products addressing diseases prevalent to China, and providing innovation and drug discovery through information science and technology.
The main responsibility of this position is to work very closely with Informaticians and IT professionals to support research scientists’ needs in the translational science / translational medicine research, maintain the daily operation of scientific information system, develop and deliver sustainable computational solutions to routine or ad hoc requests in a timely manner.
The selected candidate will, as determined by the specific application needs, either work independently or as a member of a local or global professional team to deliver the computational software solutions.
Furthermore, the selected candidate will be recognized as a resource in the Novartis scientific community for knowledge of existing and emerging informatics technologies from across academics communities and commercial enterprises.
Minimum requirements:
? B.S. in Computer Science with extensive knowledge in Linux or UNIX. Knowledge of Biostatistics / Bioinformatics would be a plus.
? 5+ year of work experience with RHEL, preferred in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company (or M.S. with 1+ year work experience).
? Excellent communication, quicker learner with strong problem solving skills.
? Demonstrated success working in global teams, fluent in English.
? Demonstrated success in software product or service development.
? Can work under pressure and be willing to meet challenges.
? Strong skills in Perl or Python, JS, PHP, Shell scripts, Java and C/C++.
? Working knowledge of CASE tools, MPI, middleware, VM and Network technologies.
? Knowledge in R, Matlab, JMP and SAS is highly desirable.
? Working knowledge of various informatics tools is a plus (e.g., Spotfire, Watson LIMS, CREDI, ClinAdmin, Novstyle, WDSII and etc.).
The ideal candidate will also have:
? Hands-on experience on requirement analysis, coding, debugging, testing, integration, and product/service roll-out.
? Hands-on experience on solving various scientific application issues.
? Working experience in multinational companies will be a plus.
