POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting the business through the effective purchase of raw materials, acts as a team lead for specified product lines, working with the sales, operations and pricing functions in order to increase Castle’s market share, while enhancing the company’s image as a market leader. Identifies new business opportunities and assists the sales function in securing profitable new orders. Develops and implements sourcing strategies to support marketing and customer solution objectives. Selects and manages key suppliers, working with senior management to negotiate contracts. Develops and maintains profitable business relationships with suppliers
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
? Manage the replenishment process to ensure we have adequate stock to support demand.
? Continue to improve inventory turns.
? Review and modify all internal purchasing practices to assure most efficient re-ordering processes are identified and implemented.
? Direct the non-standard item purchasing to assure timely and accurate responses on special customer requirements.
? Ensure that vendor performance is evaluated on an on-going basis.
? Participate in a review of internal procedures to assure accurate control of inventory both internally and at conversion sources
? Direct the process for order acknowledgement.
? Direct order expediting practices to assure timely follow-up on past due purchase orders.
? Manage customer program inventories from inception to completion.
? Train and hire new personnel, supervise the work of department personnel.
? Evaluate performance of subordinates
? Selects strategic suppliers and works with senior management in the negotiation of annual contracts. Works with suppliers to develop and maintain profitable relationships.
? Tracks supplier performance and participates in supplier audits, using data to negotiate performance improvements.
? Works with Sales Manager to develop formula or base price strategy to increase business and maximize profitability. Develops pricing strategy for specified customers’ annual contract renewals.
? Monitors competitive information and communicates changing market conditions to senior management. Recommends changes in competitive pricing consistent with current corporate profitability measures.
? Monitors market data and recommends new products to meet customer needs, improve sales volume, and increase market share.
? To meet or exceed corporate DSI objectives, develops model inventories to meet customer demands, ensuring a strategic and competitive supply of product consistent with financial objectives.
? Identifies opportunities, disseminates information and develops implementation plans designed to secure new business in concert with appropriate sales personnel.
? Provides processing service support and technical assistance for designated products and communicates appropriate information about products, capabilities, applications and specifications to sales employees.
? Contracts mills, outside processing services and material buy-out sources either directly or through buyers, acting as a resource on competitive strengths, weaknesses or pricing structures.
? Develops literature to promote product offering. Publishes articles in trade publications to improve awareness of products and services offered
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
? B.S. in Business, preferably Materials Management, supply chain or related field, or equivalent, preferred
Special Training:
? Additional training and/or coursework in Materials/Inventory Management and Negotiations is desired.
Skills:
? PC literacy required.
? Good problem-solving skills with ability to develop new ideas in order to provide innovative solutions/approaches to sales opportunities.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially language (English) capabilities.
? Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain productive business relationships.
? Ability to effectively work across a broad spectrum of functions within business units.
? Solid business acumen with demonstrated knowledge of supplier management.
? Strong negotiation skills.
? Good organizational skills, with demonstrated project management abilities.
Experience:
? Requires five (5) years purchasing, inventory and supply chain management experience in an automated and distribution-oriented environment, background in procurement and/or purchasing preferred
? Three (3) years previous supervisory experience is desired.
? Knowledge of raw materials (i.e. ferrous and non-ferrous material) is also preferred.
? Knowledge of Aerospace/Aircraft is preferred.
