General Summary

EMC Hardware Engineering is looking for a senior engineer to lead the development and qualification of next generation of IA storage products. This position will require the ideal candidate to work with a number of EMC's global design partners. Daily and weekly activities will have you working with both engineering and supplier management teams, as well as managing project schedules and reporting status. This position may also require you to work on multiple projects from the concept and development stage all the way through post release lifecycle support to ensure proper integration with EMC hardware/software products. Strong technical communication skills, as well as a commitment to EMC's core values and competencies are requirements for success.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead hardware development projects
- Collaborate with a global design team and provide regular project status
- Interface with business and other internal organizations to define functional requirements and associated product specifications
- Responsible for technical leadership of platform engineering work including interaction with outside Design & Manufacturing partners for technical direction of the hardware development
- Review functional specifications and unit designs
- Conduct design reviews and develop or review qualification plans, adhere to cost targets established during the program design phase
- Coordinate and execute lab bring-up and validation
- Work encompass multiple areas of engineering including mechanical systems, equipment and packages, electronic design, production techniques, product definition and planning, or other related fields
- Strong communication and organizational skills as well as technical excellence are required

Skills

- 5+ years of experience in the design, debug, and qualification of hardware systems
- Direct experience with IA server or storage system, solid understanding of electronic circuits and computer architecture
- Strong lab skills and experience with system configuration and debug as well as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other test equipment
- Base of knowledge including PCB, Mechanical, Power, Thermal, and FW (BIOS/BMC)
- Experience with FC, Ethernet, and SATA/SAS technologies
- Excellent communication, technical and leadership skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with US based cross product teams, local suppliers, and others across functional in English and Chinese
- Ability to influence others, both internally and globally
- Strong sense of urgency and teamwork
- Prior experience with project management tools and methodology is a plus

Education Required: BSEE is a must, MSEE is a plus

Experience Required: 5+ years of hardware design experience
