THE ROLE
Leading a World Class team of Control and Electronics engineers working on Hardware, Software and Controls solutions in Engine, Transmission, Hybridization and Vehicle control applications
Key Responsibilities
？ Lead department of engineers split into multiple functional teams, developing advanced control and electronics systems
？ Ensure quality and timing of department activities
？ Ensure achievement of department targets reporting to Engineering VP
？ Work closely with team leaders to monitor department individuals progression and support team cohesion as well as individuals and department objectives achievement
Everyday tasks will include:
？ Support business development, contributing to proposals and dealing directly with customers to win business and ensure the project delivery is successful
？ Work closely with product groups to understand future testing technology and capacity requirements.
？ Support customer interfacing for major technical elements of projects
？ Overall efficiency and financial performance of the department – optimizing staff utilization, controlling cost and maximizing recovery through rigorous workload planning, financial management, efficiency improvements, and resiliency improvements
？ Development of technical capability through awareness of ‘state of the art’ technology and strategic investment.
？ Ensure application of quality driven control system development processes
？ Consult, inform, support department members (e.g.: promote awareness of company/department objectives, monitor and support individuals integration to the department and adequation of their role)
？ Working with peer C&E department leaders to satisfy global Ricardo C&E resourcing needs
？ Report the ChTC C&E department performance to the Ricardo Asia business
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Skills
？ Minimum of eight (8) years related experience, including responsibility for managing an engineering delivery team
？ Experience of control system requirements capture, algorithm design and test
？ Experience of test-bed and vehicle based control system development and calibration
？ Proficient in English language (written and spoken) for project and technical communication
？ Proficiency in Mandarin language (spoken) would be an advantage
？ Ability to plan, cost, manage and lead technical activities, issue resolution, customer interface
？ Ability to ensure team cohesion, effectiveness, and targets
？ Experience in leading a team of controls engineers (both technical and relational aspects)

Knowledge
？ Qualified to degree level with technical background in vehicle controls design and / or implementation
？ Understanding of transmission, engine, vehicle concepts and operation (detailed knowledge of at least one field )
？ Knowledge of business development practices including pricing strategies and commercial factors
？ Literate in IT systems (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
？ Familiar with industry quality processes
？ Knowledge of budget and project delivery control
？ Knowledge of system architecture design considerations
