We’re looking for a vehicle packaging engineer based at our Ricardo Shanghai office, to play a supporting role in all aspects of programme delivery for a defined vehicle package(s). The candidate should have knowledge of most of the key areas of body, chassis, electrical, and powertrain, and an interest in whole vehicle packaging. Previous experience of whole vehicle packaging would be considered an advantage.

The Role:

• Working as part of a team, you will help deliver a vehicle package to the required customer standards, whilst being actively involved in the resolution of cross functional issues.
• Taking ownership of vehicle package issues and providing solutions.
• Liaison with our customers and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with all standards including customer and legislative.
• Involvement in the testing and documentation required to meet the Design Verification (DV) plan.
• Support and meet manufacturing and service requirements.
• Support necessary packaging meetings and other meetings to resolve vehicle issues as necessary.
• Liaising with engineers to understand the most appropriate solutions to issues.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a degree in mechanical or automotive engineering or similar.
• Have some experience of working with either chassis or powertrain engineering products, whether at a conceptual or a detail design level.
• Knowledge of chassis and powertrain component attributes.
• Be a team player with the flexibility to work alongside talented colleagues as part of a driven and dedicated team.
• Have good computer skills to enable future proficiency in TeamCentre Vismockup and CATIA V5, ideally in conjunction with TeamCentre Engineering.
• Be proactive and look to take a lead when resolving issues, rather than following another’s lead.
• Be keen to learn and progress to a more senior position.
