Job Title: Technical Designer (China)
Reporting to: Technical Operations Manager (UK)
Key Functions:
- Working in the DisplayPlan China offices, you will progress visualised concepts into manufacturing-ready drawings.
- Provide essential knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and costs
- Perform checks of prototypes, production first-offs, and production items as necessary
- Travel both within China and abroad as required to perform your duties
- Work in coordination with concept design, technical design and supply departments to ensure accurate and efficient communication and process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide complete and accurate technical designs in the form of 3D models and 2D drawings using Solidworks to agreed timelines.
- Ensure that designs are on budget and costs are managed effectively.
- Ensure that all designs are the most appropriate and functional solutions that are right first time and that any design development requirements are captured in advance.
- Provide production parts lists, prototype parts lists, specification sheets, risk assessments, and any other required documentation to accompany the technical design.
- Report regularly the workload and schedule for work to the Technical Operations Manager.
- Liaise with factories to discuss new or existing designs, work on any production issues.
- Be a source of information for the UK design and sourcing teams to promote better design and manufacturing options for any potential or actual production orders.
- Perform first-off checks of new production units or repeat orders. Assess for functional performance, aesthetic quality and dimensional accuracy. Identify issues and suggest solutions and improvements.
- Actively identify and promote cost-savings and efficiencies in design/manufacturing and work with both factories and UK Technical Designers to communicate these proposals effectively.
- Assess the manufacturing capabilities, capacity, strengths and weaknesses of supplier base to understand how to best design for each supplier.
- If required, assist overseas offices and clients with tours to DisplayPlan suppliers in China.
Required Skills:
- Experienced user of Solidworks 3D & 2D, able to design with best practices.
- Commercially aware, with a good understanding of costs.
- Ability to analyse and solve problems where necessary.
- Clear communicator- written and verbal in English.
- Self disciplined, with a can-do attitude
- Flexible with working hours

? Must have CET4 level in reading, writing and spoken English. All interviews will be conducted in English.
Basic Job Description:
Provide quality QC inspection services to ensure that products are successfully manufactured to the customers’ quality standards.
Skills:
1. Native Chinese with Fluent English (Written and Spoken to minimum CET4 level)
2. Engineering degree or equivalent work experience. An understanding of manufacturing process such as sheet metal fabrication, plastic fabrication, plastic vacuum forming, plastic injection moulding, screen-printing, etc would be beneficial.
3. Excellent Quality Inspection skills (must be able to inspect materials, components and assemblies, solve minor quality issues with factory,
4. Good PC skills, proficient in MS Office and AutoCad (SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD package an advantage).
5. A self motivated individual, how id methodical and has a good attention to detail
6. Excellent team player with strong organization, communication and presentation skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Work as part of a multi discipline team, reporting to the Shanghai based QA Manager.
2. Carry out QC inspection of production orders placed with Chinese suppliers by means of visual verification and dimensional inspection techniques to approved specifications.
3. Inspect prototypes and first article samples from production tooling. Reporting back to the relevant Project Manager and briefing the supplier’s quality personnel on the critical items to be checked during production.
4. Work closely with Chinese suppliers and provide QC advice before and during the manufacturing process to ensure that projects are delivered to the required quality.
5. Monitor the factory’s QC procedures to ensure they are providing adequate quality inspections on each project.
6. Take responsibility for ensuring that all QC documentation is correct and properly filed for easy review.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. Ideally a Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
2. Supplementary qualifications in QC Inspection. Must have at least 2 years experience in a similar role.
3. Good reading, writing, listening and spoken English skills. Must have CET4 level.
