*This is a 12 months contractor.

The Translator Assistant is primarily responsible for ensuring that the EA Shanghai studio and its teams are able to communicate effectively with our various partner studios by providing translation and interpretation to and from English and Simplified Chinese in both written and oral formats.

This role will be allowed access to the inner workings of EA studio across the globe and gain insight into our methodologies and workflow. With sufficient experience, this person will be in a unique position to transfer into a production role within our organization.

Job Responsibilities

-Translate communication (emails, game materials etc.) to and from English to Simplified Chinese.

-Attend regular video conference meeting to take notes and or provide oral interpretation

-Provide oral translation during presentations and trainings

-Be the primary point of contact to various visitors of EA Shanghai studio

-Perform various tasks that supports our studio operation such as contacting external vendors

Skills Required

-Native Chinese language skills (written and spoken) and excellent English language skills (written and spoken). Candidates need to be sensitive to both China's and Western culture differences and idiosyncrasies

-Familiarity with gaming jargons and platforms including PC, Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and mobile (iPhone and Android)

-General IT skills such as typing, email, and Internet, as well as proficiency in workplace applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).

-Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously by correctly understanding their priorities and processing them efficiently and correctly

-Ability to understand the intricacies of multi-discipline teams and ensure there are no communication breakdowns or gaps

-Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Skills

-A strong passion for gaming

-Prior experience working in a Western company culture

-Prior experience in coordinating and communicating with foreign teams

-Prior experience in working in a game company
