Job description
IBM's General Parallel File System(GPFS) is a high-performance clustered file system which provides both shared disk and shared nothing architecture. Now it has been widely used in HPC, Storage, Database and other newly emerging areas, and deployed in many of the world's largest commercial companies in diversity of industries. A big percentage of the supercomputers ranked in the Top 500 List are running on GPFS, for example ASC Purple Supercomputer, it is composed of more than 12,000 processors and has 2 petabytes of total disk storage spanning more than 11,000 disks. GPFS provides concurrent high-speed file access to applications executing on multiple nodes of clusters(multiple platform/OS supported, Linux/AIX/Windows). In addition to providing file system storage capabilities, GPFS provides tools for management and administration of clusters and enables the shared access to file systems in remote GPFS clusters. CSTL GPFS development team is one of key global GPFS teams based in Beijing. The team take on critical component design, implementation and functional verification work, and with continuously increasing responsibilities in helping GPFS success in the global market. The team work in orchestrated manner with the worldwide GPFS teams and Research teams to contribute features, and take the central role in some advanced technology design and implementation, such as Sharing Nothing Cluster, which is strategic product to meet the needs from Big Data and Cloud Computing . Facing increasing new feature demands and other requests spanning HPC and Storage, Clouds opportunities, and Big Data initiatives and database, we are looking for very high-caliber software engineering skills capable of quickly climbing the GPFS and related learning curve. No job level limitation.
GPFS Level 2 Support hiring
This role specializes in performing and enabling remote technical support of GPFS and related solutions. This role provides technical support assistance to customers using high problem determination/problem source identification skills. Utilizes technical and communication skills in collaboration with other support operations/organizations to prioritize and diagnose problems to resolution. Recommends and implements new or improvements to existing technical support tools, procedures, and processes. Contributes to department attainment of organizational objectives and high customer satisfaction. Excellent opportunity to work directly with customers. Experience real time customer successes in running our system software.
