Company Introduction:
Silverstream Technologies has successfully developed and deployed a market-leading clean marine technology solution over the last ten years – The Silverstream? System. Our Air Lubrication System (ALS) fundamentally changes the interaction between water and a vessel’s hull, creating a carpet of microbubbles that coats the flat bottom of a vessel. As a result, frictional resistance is reduced – dramatically improving a vessel’s fuel consumption and associated emissions.
Air Lubrication is a strategic efficiency technology enabling significant savings, improved vessel performance and significant reduction of harmful emissions. The technology is suited to large full bodied vessels and can be installed as a retrofit or during new buildings with an addressable market of 12,000 existing vessels and new tonnage.
After a series of successful deployments, the company is experiencing a significant increase in activity as more ship owners/charterers adopt the system on their vessels. With both retrofit and newbuild projects on order we are expanding our team and recruiting high calibre people to join our dynamic team on our exciting journey of rapid growth.
Silverstream Technologies is pleased to have innovative sector leaders as key customers including Shell, Carnival, Grimaldi, Maersk, Meyer Werft, MSC and Vale.
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - China, this role is to provide Application Engineering support to the Silverstream Technologies business in the context of design selection, positioning, and integration of our Air Release Units (ARU) in Retrofit and Newbuild Projects. This work will require the review, understanding and use of ship plans to ensure the ARUs are positioned to maximise vessel performance and enable suitable structural integration. The role involves close work with the other engineering disciplines in both China and the UK.
You will be involved in a wide range of other activities, including supporting the simplification of structural integration at ship, supporting the established relationships with fabricators of our structural components and assisting with shipyard queries during the ARU installation at ship.
Governance and lead for all structural works flows from the Lead Structural Engineer. The role of the Application Engineer - Structures is to ensure such governance is correctly applied within the Application Engineering discipline, complying with process, and ensuring timely resolution and escalation of challenges as they arise.
