The role is based in Shanghai, and reports to Business Development Director of Formica Asia (based in Singapore). You will be part of the team of several Business Analysts (that are located in the main Asia markets and in Singapore HQ), and should also be prepared for stand-alone ownership for tasks and project in the local market. Business Analysts partner with the executive leaders in the regions on growth opportunities and business plans, supports their decision making with crisp business analysis to understand performance, challenges and opportunities in the different markets and ensures maintaining pace in the execution. He or she executes projects on topics that range from market mapping to effectiveness of a manufacturing site and from the launch of a new product range in a country to potential acquisitions to expand the position in the value chain. Although the direct reporting line is to the Business Development Director, the Business Analysts, at times, may work for others, always with the goal to make company better in the long term. This may also involve travel within China and across Asia.
Key responsibilities for the role:
? Project management. Lead and support initiatives on various topics from commercial strategy to operational optimization to product design and portfolio optimization. Develop approach and implementation plan, engage resources across organization, coordinate work between internal and external stakeholders, monitor execution, identify and resolve bottlenecks
? Data analysis. Perform various project related and ad-hoc analyses – including market mapping and competitive analysis, pricing benchmarking, sales performance, marginality and influence by factors, business cases for investments with payback, etc. Source and organize information from systems, people, internal and external data sources. Analyze, summarize insights, translate to actions
? Interactions. Work closely with Business Development Director, CEO, CFO on strategic topics – proactively engage and interface with various people in the organization at all levels and functions, mobilize cross-functional work without direct authority, plan and arrange workshops and reviews, tailor communications to different audiences
? Field work. Get exposed to company operation on the ground, including field observations and interviews – including customers, suppliers, sales reps, and operations; travel may be involved
? Content. Create content for presentations, reviews, and communication within and outside the organization, bring structure and clarity to written communication tailored to the audience
Requirements:
? Master degree (financial, economy, or technical, possibly in combination with an MBA) with 4-7 years of experience with growing responsibility
? Experience in management consulting, business development, commercial or marketing functions are very relevant for the role – big part of work is expected on Commercial topics
? Exposure to China market and culture is required – the role is largely focused on China market support and development, but may also involve projects for Asia, travel in China and beyond may be required
? Language: Mandarin and English proficiency is essential
