Application Development Engineer – Hydrogen Economy Venture

The Advanced Performance Materials business has a wide variety of high-performance Fluorobased materials. They possess a combination of unique properties, like exceptional heat and chemical resistance, excellent electrical insulating properties, UV resistance and non-stick. 

    

We are seeking an Application Development Engineer to develop together with market leaders and their value chain partners, new applications for all our products in the Chinese Energy market.

    

    

·         This position will work in close cooperation with the market development managers to drive application development projects, develop and demonstrate value propositions.

    

    

·         This position will include developing new ideas, prototyping and testing those concepts in Chemours laboratories and clients’ facilities.

    

    

·         The position will collaborate within the Chemours global technical community, including other application development engineers around the world, the global R&D teams, and the technical service organization.

    

    

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    

    

·        Demonstrated skills to assess product performance, diagnose, troubleshoot, optimize processing parameters, and resolve issues during the development. Ability to analyze data independently, draw statistically based conclusions and determine next steps. Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills are required.

    

    

·        Ability to self-manage time and resources to get results in the quickest and least costly fashion within limits dictated by maintaining safe operations, customer satisfaction and business impact. 

    

    

·        Capability to discuss technical subjects at detailed fundamental theoretical and practical level.

    

    

·        Ability to interact directly with partners, both leadership and technical staff, to answer questions, solve problems and working together on development projects.

    

    

·        A strong 'Customer Focus' attitude, and ability to work at the speed of the partner and drive the projects to successful commercialization.

    

    

·        Ability to identify new opportunities for the Hydrogen Economy Venture and translate the idea to executable projects.

    

    

·        Passion to learn new technical applications, materials, application methods and application performance characterizations.

    

    

·        Ability to keep accurate records of experimental trials, customer interactions and an opportunity pipeline, technical and product data sheets, etc.

    

    

·        Ability to travel a significant part of the time to external partners, and flexibility to respond on short notice to the partner need. Regular travel within China and some international travel to the US and Europe may be required.

    

    

·        A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, material science or related technical material degree with extensive experience working with high end materials, strong technical aptitude in industrial renewable energy and energy storage applications and systems

    

    

·        Fluent in English language.

    

    

·        Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills, both internally and with external partners.

    

    

    

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    

    

·        Master degree or PhD in chemical engineering or material science with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with high end materials in field of renewable energy.

    

·        Experience with electrochemistry.

    

·        Experience in Fuel Cell industry

    

·        Knowledge of polymer processing, application prototyping and application relevant characterization
