Main Responsibility

Work closely with US and Shanghai Product team to manage the packaging development process and ensure that the product validation and launch schedule are successfully completed.

Lead the packaging DFM review, provide comments or suggestion back to Product team.

Transfer package design/concept from Product team to product vendor & packaging supplier on time.

Work with product vendor and packaging supplier to prepare enough packaging materials to support product validation during the commercialization stages and handling the packaging validation tests and clearly report to project team.

Create the specified packaging assembly work instructions with fixtures for checking & approving the WI provided by vendor before each product trial run and ensure the supplier will follow the work instructions.

Support US head office team on the packaging artwork creation, proof review and work with packaging suppliers to do the first article sample reviews.

Co-work cross functionally to support the on-time delivery and sustainability of all packaging shipments and production.

Analyze all failed packaging tests, find the root cause of the failure, and provide solutions. - Lead and resolve all packaging engineering issue before MP.

Support the Sourcing team to manage the packaging suppliers and Vendor score card review, and drive suppliers to make timely improvements.

Clearly and regularly report to Product manager the packaging, tooling, sampling, schedule, cost and development status.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering.

At least 3 years packaging development management experience, familiar with the materials used for the packaging.

Experience in related packaging software, such as AI, CAD, Solid works is preferred.

Skillful communication, negotiation and coordination and project risk management.

Proven experience of troubleshooting for packaging structure design and structure issue. Detail oriented, responsible, proactive attitude, team work and organized.

Frequent traveling is required.

Excellent written English, skillful oral English is preferred.

Familiar with ISTA/ASTM packaging test standard

Currently, Traeger Pellet Grills, LLC is seeking a Product Development Engineer at our Salt Lake City, UT headquarters.
 
This role will be responsible for ensuring designs of new products are correctly implemented through our international OEM/ODM partners and suggests design improvements to existing products. Evaluates current and proposed products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability, ensuring successful project completion based on set targets. Works with other members of the product and operations team to ensure that projects are completed at cost and on time, with the highest possible quality.
