Assitant Accounting Manager, Wilhelmsen Ships Service, China

The Position: Assistant Accounting Manager

This position will be located at Shanghai. This position will report to Finance Manager

Who you are

Ensure to perform correct, reliable accounting tasks and responsibilities. Assist the Finance Manager in keeping the financial administration up-to-date. Comply with financial policies as described in GIMS.

The Accounting Manager has the authority to act within the guidelines and instructions for his/her position

he position-holder will be measured against:

• Meeting financial deadlines

• Provision of relevant, timely and accurate information

• Development and guidance of accounting team

Health & Safety responsibilities

The manager provides a healthy and safe* working environment for employees, contractors and visitors under his/her direct supervision by:

• Ensuring all relevant risk management processes are implemented and applied to demonstrate risk reduction.

• Ensuring employees, contractors and visitors are trained and competent to perform their tasks safely & effectively

• Ensuring the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are available, used, inspected and maintained

• Ensuring all accidents, incidents, injuries, near misses, safety risks and issues of non-compliance with health and safety procedures are reported, investigated and managed to prevent recurrence

• Managing and developing safety proactively; engage yourself and lead by example

*this includes physical as well as psychosocial health and safety

Required experience and skills:

Mandatory requirements

• Degree in accounting from an accredited university

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in similar positions

• Good communication skills and command of English

• High proficiency in excel

• Analytical, numerical, systematic with eye for details

• Responsible, motivated, conscientious, and upholds a high level of integrity

Additional preferences

• Prior working experience in audit firms (i.e. big 4) preferred

• Responsible for all accounting and reporting functions for WSS China

• Finance super-user support for IFS accounting system

• Maintain WSS China books including management & PRC reports and analyses

• Preparation of monthly reports & tax filing

• Preparation of annual financial report & tax submission report

• Liaison with IPA & operation colleagues for invoice posting

• Liaison with auditor / tax consultant/ government agency for statutory reporting

• VAT Return submission

• Support function for Finance Manager

• Responsible for up keeping good HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) practices per company’s policy

• Any other duties or projects assigned by the Finance Manager
