GENERAL SUMMARY:

The R&D Engineer is responsible for new product development & formulations using engineering polymeric blends & alloys and specialty functional additives to meet end users’ specifications. He/She must have an in-depth knowledge of relationship between polymer structure and property, polymer compounding technology, processing & optimization. He/She will be involved in product development with demonstrated track record for commercializing the development activities for the high performance engineering thermoplastics used in Electrical/Electronics, Automotive, Healthcare & Industrial applications etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead local projects and coordinate with global team in product formulations related to Specialty Thermoplastics Blends & Modifications including bench scale development, product & process scale up
• Ability to apply scientific method for formulations development such as use of Design of Experiment (DOE)
• Provide unique, patentable, and unsolicited solutions for customers
• Manage projects by closely communicating with cross-functional teams such as Sales, BDM, PM, MFG, etc. to achieve the project goals.
• Responsible for ensuring product development is properly documented.
• Strong analytical skills in data analysis
• Aware of technical trends and shifts

• Master degree or Ph.D in Chemistry / Polymer Science & Technology / Materials Science/ Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in formulations & compounding knowledge.
• Possess in-depth knowledge in formulation work and development related to engineering plastics such as PA, PBT, PC, High temperature Polymeric Blends & Alloys & usage of fillers, such as glass/carbon and different type of minerals, and additives, especially flame retardant used in engineering plastics or elastomers
• A team player with good analytical & scientific skills in development work, self-motivated and resourceful
• Experience in multi-tasks & project managment
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Good communication with cross functional teams
