Job Purpose:

Fully competent career professional with broad understanding of the relevant principles, theories, and concepts within metallurgy (Aluminum) area of specialization.

Ability to develop Aluminum sheet related technology, process or method, to satisfy company’s business needs.

Ability to assess viability of Aluminum sheet related technology, process or method, within technical discipline, to make recommendations as to the best application based on business needs.

Leads multi-disciplinary R&D project teams.

Serves as key researcher on critical initiatives conducting research with little to no guidance.

Independently applies the underlying principles of a technical discipline to set up and execute complex analyses.  Present papers at relevant technical conferences.

Job Context:

Uses creativity, innovation and knowledge of multiple technical disciplines and processes to solve complex problems that may affect multiple sites.

Proposes, justifies and leads moderately complex projects. Begins to integrate knowledge of a variety of disciplines to independently address more complex problems.

Ability to independently isolate a problem and draw upon knowledge and experience to design appropriate possible solutions.

Manages priorities for work teams or project teams.

Demonstrates general knowledge of regional and global processes, business strategies and trends in the industry including the plans of competitors.

Application of fundamental training and experience to conduct research into new process areas or products.

Balancing time and work schedule to focus on knowledge transfer to junior technical staff Identifies and communicates best practices and methods to others.

Job Requirements:

Ph.D  degree in scientific – related discipline; metallurgy or material science or related field;

Entry to this level typically requires 5 years of relevant experience;

Project Management experience with multiple projects;

High level of creativity and self-initiative;

Profound expertise in the field of metallurgy, especially Al alloys development (Al sheet development experience preferred);

Profound experience of materials characterization techniques (SEM, EBSD, EDS, XRF, GDOES, ICP, XRF, FTIR, etc.);

Good communication skills and advanced English language;

Experience of various automobile OEM specification for Al sheet is a PLUS.
