About the role

China is the Tier 1 country for the Rio Tinto Group given its importance to the Group in terms

of single largest shareholder base, stable and high quality customer revenue as the Group’s

largest market; significant procurement of mining machinery and raw material for global

operations; a few key joint ventures and strategic partners base; and influence in other markets

of importance to the Group.

Safety is the number 1 priority for Rio Tinto. With the recent outbreak of COVID pandemic

across the world, HSE continues to be our most important focus in the special time looking

ahead.

This role is based in Shanghai and is to provide essential and professional HSE advice to

internal and external stakeholders in and outside China offices. This role also acts as an expert

in supporting the office smooth HSE performance based on HSE knowledge, as well as the

implementation and delivery of key initiatives, system and trainings etc.

Reporting to HRBP China, you will:

? Support the leadership team to define and implement an HSE strategy for short, medium

and long-term business goals.

? Promote and enhance the HSE culture in China office from various aspects.

? Manage Rio Tinto China offices’ HSE programs / management tools / local initiatives to

make sure they are efficiently and effectively implemented.

1. Design and develop HSE protocol in China region by working closely with HSE

expertise in various business units

1.Lead the development of various HSE initiatives for China offices on monthly basis

(including monthly theme, HSE forum / workshop / training, HSE tips, posting and

sharing, health program etc.)

2.Key member in China HSE Committee in driving the office HSE culture and

solving HSE related concerns if any.

3.Key member in China business resilience team by providing HSE expertise to

business continuity or incidence reporting.

4.Leads HSE investigations, remedial plans, or continuous improvement

opportunities.

? Develop gap analysis and participate in the auditing of HSE performance and system within

RT China and Rio Tinto global

1.Ensures compliance with relevant statutory and legislative provisions

2.Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management

Systems from global (where any)

3.Support the group level HSE audit and inspection to make sure regional

implementation is aligned with global standard.

? Facilitate the internal trainings / workshops to China employees to raise awareness of

Health & Safety standards, and environmental plans. This will also include providing

assistance in the development of HSE training programs and materials.

? Delivers timely reporting of performance against HSE plans, Rio Tinto Corporate, and

regulatory requirements to managers and senior leaders. This includes utilizing the RT SAP

system.

? Communicate regularly as required with various stakeholders and maintain a practical

management protocol to ensure optimal HSE performance for employees, contractors and

relevant third parties.

? Actively advises the HSE management team of critical issues and recommends interactions

which will contribute to alleviating health risks.

? Work closely with business support administrator in China, office building management,

and external security counterparts or providers on office security related measures and

controls.

? Develop and support HSE controls (physical, procedural and behavioral) with RT China’s

business activities.

? Support business in HSE inspection with customers, suppliers or partners as requested.

? Develop and maintain effective networks and strong partnerships at all levels of the Rio

Tinto Businesses from HSE perspectives.

About you

Qualifications and capabilities

? Bachelor degree or above in Occupational Safety and Health/Environmental Science or

equivalent.

? A registered Safety Officer of the Labour Department will be a plus.

Essential Experience

? Comprehensive and solid working experience in HSE field in MNC

? Knowledge of incident response processes, procedure and requirements.

? Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse set of key stakeholders.

? Strong organizational skill with the capability to balance short and long-term project

deadlines in a multi-national company.

? Tertiary qualification in the field of HSE

? Knowledge of HSE management systems

? Hands-on experience in HSE Audit activity

? Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and

concise analysis

? Experienced in planning and budgeting

? Good interpersonal skill and team work spirit
