Role Description

Job Title:  SDE-Fabrication          Reports To:   Supplier Development Manager                                                               

Responsibilities and Duties

§  Lead on new supplier assessment and special commodity audit to identify and drive improvement. Make sure that JCB minimum requirements are met (ISO9001:2000) & that all new suppliers are capable of meeting JCB requirements.

§  Ensure that the JCB New Product Introduction Process is being fully supported for the identified “at risk” suppliers. Monitor supplier advance production plan process. This includes the supplier’s manufacturing processes, manufacture & supply of “first off” new parts, ISIR/PPAP compliance, 100% RFT & 100% schedule adherence for early production batches.

§  Give support to supplier on product/process development period and make sure it can be move to series production. Drive Preventive and Rigorous Control Plan at supplier.

§  Ensure that supplier Quality & Warranty performance is being measured for conformance to JCB requirements. Organize and set up quality development plan for long-term suppliers. Jointly review supplier performance with relevant Divisional or Group Purchasing personnel & prioritise suppliers for application of performance improvement processes.

§  Support and utilise JCB E-Supplier Management Process, Capacity Planning System and JCB Supplier Quality Assurance Manual.

 KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

§  Bachelor of Science Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology or Equivalent Degree.

§  Minimum 8 years’ experience in Welding Fabrication Industry including 5 years SDE experience.

§  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple qualification projects and work with diverse teams to qualify suppliers and improve their performance. Demonstrated ability in reviewing and approving weld documentation according to ASME, AWS, EN, or DIN welding standards.

§  Demonstrated understanding of welding standards, DIN/EN, ISO or ASTM material standards.

§  Expertise in fabrication techniques, distortion control, fixturing and positioning of weld seam. Expertise in weld inspections, measurement equipment and calibration.

§  Experience in weld procedure qualification for CS, low/high alloy materials

§  Experience with basic NDT methods according to ASNT/EN standards

§  Understanding of machining practices and familiarity with machine tools, CNC setup, tooling, cutters, taps, inserts, optical tools and calibration processes

§  Understanding of corrosion coating preparation and protection processes

§  Familiar with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, ISO 9001, TS16949.

§  Familiar with problem solving, quality improvement and shop floor management tools. Six Sigma, Lean is preferred.

§  Good communication and interpersonal skill

§    Fluent in both oral and written English.
