POSITION SPECIFICATIONS & CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS


Title : Quotation Engineer

Location : Various

Reporting: Reports to NPI Manager

The Company: A US-based manufacturer of wire harnesses, power cords, wire leads and electro-mechanical assemblies

Job Summary:

? Responsible for managing the quote process in addition to preparing and tracking accurate labor and material from Engineering supplied documents and drawings

Responsibilities:

? Manage quotation process from RFQ receipt to quoted response to customer by effectively using the Quote Management System.
? Generate costed bills of material (BOM’s) from documentation provided by customer drawings, product samples supplied by customer and internal Engineering Group
? Locate and identify raw materials along with material substitutions
? Assist Purchasing and Engineering in sourcing and pricing all new or inactive raw materials found on costed BOMs
? Generate labor elements for products being quoted. When labor elements do not exist, work with Product Engineer to estimate standard run rates
? Document detailed assumptions and exceptions between customer design requirements and component/material supplier selection
? Review all parts being costed for accuracy and assist Product Engineering in finding cost-reducing design changes; Depth of review to be dependent on value of line item being costed and urgency of request
? Manage all open quote requests to ensure quote completion time is met
? Provide tooling and equipment support to manufacturing plants where required
? Review all internal ECN’s submitted by manufacturing plants, consulting with Product Engineering and Sales as required. Assist Product Engineering as needed to reduce costs, meet print requirements, and meet costing database part structure requirements


Requirements:

? Bachelor’s degree required, Engineering preferred
? Minimum 5 years of experience in a wire harness manufacturing environment or related industry
? Able to generate bills of material and labor elements from Engineering supplied documentation; experience with BPCS operating software is an asset
? Must be familiar with wire assembly components and material costs
? Effective communication and time management skills; able to multi-task
? Computer literate, including Microsoft Office
? Solid understanding of QS-9000, TS-16949 and ISO-9001-2000 requirements as related to job responsibilities
? Bi-lingual - must be fluent in English and Mandarin
