Job Title: Product Engineering (PE) Engineer

The products are sold across a network of sewing machine dealers, mass retailers (e.g., Costco, Walmart, Lidl, MediaMarkt, Carrefour), specialty retailers (e.g., Joann, Michaels), online retailers (e.g., Amazon, Tmall), distributors, and through the company’s ~200 internally operated retail stores.

The Industry

The sewing machine industry is a global industry that is experiencing renewed growth. In developed markets, growth rates are projected to outpace GDP growth, according to Global Industry Analysts, Inc., the leading industry data source. Growth in these markets is driven by the millennial generation that is increasingly attracted to personalization, crafts and self-expression. In developing markets, the industry is expected to grow at 6.7% annually, fueled by the emerging middle class and the “need to sew” segment that uses sewing machines to support the household.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This person will work with designers, to carry out Design For Manufacturing (DFM), work with suppliers to review, and bargain the tooling quotation, work with Quality and Production to verify the part been developed, and approve the part following the working process. the person will perform as a technical expert scoping electrical and electronics carries the knowledge of PCBA process, schematic, motors, and troubleshooting. the person is going to demonstrate full ownership of her/his work and a good team player.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is one of the key members of the engineering team. which the team develops parts and products with input from the designer team. this role is responsible for the electrical and electronics parts. this role is reporting to the lead engineer, work through the development process, provide deliverable at a scheduled time plan.

Key responsibilities are:

● new part development according to the working process

● ECN part development according to the working process

● the part improvement according to the drawing and production requirements

● prepare technical documentation and control list dimension for incoming inspection

● support supplier and production on the technical issues

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

● BSC or equivalent, major in electrical or electronic engineering

● background in elec part development for more than 5 years

● familiarity with IPC610 soldering standard

● familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes like wave and reflow soldering.

● familiarity with ICT, FCT

● ability to make tiny programming in embedded systems, like ARM-based system

● knowledge and experience of stepping motor and DC brush motor and AC universal motor

● knowledge and experience of LED, Sensors, and controlling system

● able to utilize tools for troubleshooting. like oscilloscope, multi-meters and etc.

● good English verbal and writing skills

● good communication

● PC skills for inst. EDA, Office

● basic knowledge of Linux will be a plus

● basic knowledge of project management will be a plus

● lean manufacturing or green belt knowledge will be a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

work in Shanghai Office, with few domestic travel to the supplier’s facility.
