Customer Application Senior Staff Engineer

Seagate China Lab is located in Wuxi and Hangzhou. Our responsibilities are focusing on New product Launch Joint-Qualification, Storage solution for future application/architecture, Field Issue Investigation and solution support and System-level risk assessment on Seagate products.

About the Role – You Will:

• The lead of HDD product qualification and field reliability technical supporting for key customers
• Act as the tech lead to perform a system risk assessment to support the new product launch
• Support system-level reliability operations, data analysis, reports and issue management
• Alert factory and design center of any quality problems and trigger, recommend ship-hold/stop-ship
• Drive Hard Drive product quality/reliability improvement efforts
• Qualify engineering change through reliability qualification test

About You:

• Knowledge of storage architecture, software, hardware and relevant engineering
• knowledge of storage products development and validation processes
• knowledge of storage system/devices for surveillance or enterprise server applications
• Strong teamwork qualities as well as communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
• Strong capability of the problem statement and solving
• Fluent in writing, reading, listening and speaking in English
• Good communication skills are essential
• Excellent self-learning, motivated, organized and self-disciplined

Your Experience Includes:

• Technical development and testing experiences in the storage industry, firmware, software, system integration, reliability engineering or electronics/mechanical fields.
• Designing, editing and executing test scripts/tools for product reliability/performance/compatibility
• Good skills in hard drive failure analysis, familiar with SATA/SAS related data/issue analysis
• Surveillance, Server, Storage, and Cloud applications related to engineering work
• A key team player and willing to present and work with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor and/or equivalent experience

You May Also Have:

• Developing or testing experience on Storage/server systems
• File systems and Linux knowledge
• Project management experiences

Location:

In response to COVID-19, this position may temporarily begin and be performed remotely. Seagate is actively evaluating the virus and our employees' health and safety are our top priority. In the future, this position will report to and be performed at our Shanghai or Shenzhen location.

Besides, Seagate has set up entities in Tianjin and Hangzhou respectively. Tianjin services cloud storage customers and Hangzhou provides data recovery services respectively.
