Job description

The SHEQ supervisor validates whether all business operations are performed with respect for safety, health, environment and quality, as well as facility caring. You assist the management team with a solid plan and actions to achieve outstanding results in these fields.  Together with all departments you take initiatives to implement improvements and embed internal controls to meet the highest standards in the industry, as well as legal requirements, the Atlas Copco Group SHE goals and the divisional targets for sustainable, profitable development.

 

Safety: You inspire the whole organization with a high focus on the safety of our employees, visitors and contractors to ensure the organization remains free of accidents and incidents.  As such, you promote the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), organise the Atlas Copco Safety Day and the yearly fire drill, and take lead in the procedures concerning logistics handling of dangerous goods.

 

In addition, the SHEQ supervisor is also the main coordinator for Plant and Property.  This involves compliance with laws and regulations with controlled access to the building as well as clear indications on emergency routes and evacuation procedures.  Small repairs and maintenance of the facilities are under your control too.

 

Health: The SHEQ supervisor evaluates conditions of the ergonomics for our staff in both warehouse and office, and promotes the clubs to boost the well-being of the employees.

 

Environment: The Atlas Copco Group has ambitious targets to minimize its ecological footprint.  Within supply chain, the SHEQ supervisor works out programmes with the departments to reduce CO₂ emissions from operations and transport.  Furthermore, he/she is responsible for the sustainable consumption of natural resources like water and electricity.

 

Quality: Within your responsibility for quality, you will conduct internal audits and detect potential risks for the entity by screening the logistics operations.  Actions and control procedures are put in place to avoid impact to the business in the distribution centre.  It is one of your main objectives to achieve the ISO certifications to prove the DC meets the highest standards in the industry.  You will therefore develop and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) in line with ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.

Facility: Coordinate with property company and suppliers, take care the facility including periodic maintenance, repairing and replacement.

 

Others: Other jobs assigned by your manager.

 

The SHEQ supervisor is an active member of the SHEQ Council in China.  He or she reports to the Warehouse Manager of RDC and contributes substantially with clear information to divisional management and Board.

 

 

Experience and knowledge requirements

Few years’ experience at previous employment in a SHEQ related position preferred with a proven track record of successfully running optimization projects.

Excellent knowledge of quality systems (ISO9000, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 / ISO45001) and auditing principles (ISO19011) are required.  Good knowledge of the legal aspects in China within your area of responsibility.

You have an extended knowledge about handling dangerous goods in a logistics environment.  Having an IATA DG certification is an asset.

 

 

Skills

Mastering Chinese is a prerequisite, while you are also fluent in English writing, speaking and listening.  The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and is proficient in Microsoft Office software package.

 

Strong inter-personal, influencing and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to communicate in a clear and structured manner through a variety of media.

Able to apply conceptual and analytical thinking, using qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques to detect root causes of problems, define resolution plans and drive to conclusion.

 

Educational requirements

Bachelor or master degree in environmental, chemistry or industry fields, or an equivalent combination through education and professional experience.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Distribution Centre in Shanghai is a fast growing organization with 80 employees, serving several divisions of the Compressor Technique, Industrial Technique and Power Technique Business Areas. With the recent development into a regional hub for spare parts, our organization delivers over 30,000 customer order lines a month throughout China and Asia-Pacific for 10 different brands within the Atlas Copco Group. The main operational activities are: warehousing, inventory planning and shipping, supported by strong purchasing, finance, IT, SHEQ and HR departments.
