Lead Applications Scientist, Coating Polymer （***）

Overview of role

To carry out and lead application projects etc.

          

Role specific conditions

 Responsible for supporting in setting up and running Polymer Effects and Coatings (regional strategies) lab. Main responsibility of the role is to carry out lab work on customer work requests – mainly formulating and application testing (e.g. epoxy and alkyd resin emulsification and paint formulation). 90 % internal, 10 % external. Will visit customers from time to time, mainly in China, to help develop relationships and explore collaborative opportunities. Needs to work effectively with the more customer facing the Market Application Specialist.

Specific Regulatory/ Legal responsibilities

Follow site safety requirements, ensure all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with statutory, group and leglislative requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Excellent experimentalist with laboratory experience preferably in related area. Project management skills.

Ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously to successful conclusions under own initiative.

Creative and tenacious with good planning and problem solving skills

Good written communication skills, numerate, attention to detail.

Ability to interact constructively within department and with other departments

Adaptable around changing project requirements and priorities.

 

Education required for the role

 Degree in relevant discipline.
