    Job Description –Material Planning Manager        Purpose of Position    

  Administer, support and perform the purchasing and inventory customer service inputs and outputs. This includes purchaser order placement, expediting, policies, instructions, procedures, BOM’s, inventory targets and levels and documentation to support our goal to provide the highest customer service for our products.

    

  Ensure that purchase orders are dealt with promptly; that internal customers are advised of lead times and availability of product and that invoices forwarded are accurate

    

  To select reliable sources of supply, approve purchase orders, supervise purchasing, control purchase price and quality, and ensure deliveries of both raw materials and finished goods are timely

    

  Administer of warehouse, support and perform the raw materials movement, to be accurate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    

A.     Pronto Implementation & Planning & Maintenance

    

Help support Pronto implementation programme

    

Provide Pronto ERP input and learn Pronto Planning, Purchasing, Inventory and Manufacturing Modules

    

Maintain supplier &  purchasing information and inventory item master information up to date and relevant for our business

    

    

B.      Purchasing

    

  Investigate and develop supply sources and obtain quotations

    

  Procure products as required to achieve production, distribution and sales plan targets

    

  Procure quality products, raw materials, equipment, services and/or supplies for
 the operation of the Company at the most favourable prices consistent with the desired quality, quantity, delivery and other factors.

    

  Keep accurate record of goods received both manually and through our Pronto ERP/MRP package; control acknowledgement of materials and supplies and the maintenance of all purchasing records

    

  Initiate, review and process purchases

    

  Review and process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory (non-conforming) materials or equipment and maintain appropriate records of supplier performance

    

  Carry out purchasing policy and procedures within limits of delegated authority and in accordance with Company policies and procedures

    

  Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders

    

  Establish and approve sources of raw materials supply

    

  Undertake the negotiation of purchase contracts, follow-up, schedule and expedite deliveries

    

  Supervise controls on receipt and acknowledgement of materials and supplies

    

  Ensure the sale of scrap copper and any other commodities

    

  Review and process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment

    

  Investigate trends in basic raw materials and supply prices

    

  Procure raw materials in line with production plan

    

  Procure quality raw materials at best price and optimum delivery

    

  Ensure correct pricing of raw materials in Pronto system

    

    

    

C.      Warehouse: Receiving & issuing Material Control and Documentation

    

  Ensure that all business activities conducted either personally or by subordinate staff comply with the letter and intent of all relevant Acts to ensure legal and regulatory demands and ethical standards are complied with

    

  Maintain and develop workplace standards and policies including ;  Industrial, OH&S, environmental, legal, statutory and contractual requirements

    

  Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Company’s Guidelines, Mission and Value Statements

    

  Provide correct information for dispatching correct goods on time, close related WO & SO

    

  Ensure PO received on time and corresponding Pronto process done

    

  Ensure conformance to quality standards

    

  Inform Manager of problems and progress

    

  Conduct stock counts

    

  Assist in stock takes

    

  Accept introduction of new technology such as bar coding, computers, etc.

    

  Initiate new methods and procedures

    

  Perform other duties as directed

    

  Prepare and/or assist in the presentation of KPI charts, tables and schematics in the following areas, but not limited to, procurement costs, production loading and labour forecasts, inventory stock holdings and turns

    

    Authorities    

  Modify material planning and advise/consult with those affected

    

  Recommend new production planning tools and systems

    

  Recommend changes to production schedule

    

  Recommend changes in resources

         Skills & competencies    

    

  May hold tertiary qualifications in major areas controlled (eg logistics, business management, procurement etc)

    

  Requires a keen analytical mind and the ability to communicate effectively; may have acquired skills through extensive manufacturing experience; previous experience in production administration and activities of a similar nature

  Extensive PC (MS Office) skills plus programming and database control

    

  Some exposure and understanding of IT systems in production
