职位描述

Position Summary

The Manager is responsible for ensuring that the student body of NYU Shanghai has access to expert and world-class career support resources to seek and launch their career paths during and after their NYU Shanghai experience. In this capacity, the manager will be responsible for creating and managing a core program of workshops, conferences, and career building programs each academic year. Additionally, this role will work closely with the team to develop career development programs and job development from a global perspective, to serve both undergraduate and graduate students. This role will work closely with employer engagement team to manage a wide range of employer engagement events, recruitment programs and career services activities. A management level skill set is required for this position such as project planning, event marketing & coordination, and program assessment.

The main responsibilities include:

Career Development Programs and Career Coaching (40%)

  • Program planning: Develop creative and innovative career workshops and programming to meet the needs of the students’ career goals. Ensure that programs and educational events are managed effectively and that appropriate resources are available for implementation.
  • Program design and delivery: Determine the effectiveness of program/workshop design and delivery, and use results to guide evidence-based decision making regarding future program budget, design, and delivery.
  • Program and Event Administration: Ensure that goals set for career programming and events are in alignment with the mission of the unit, division, and institution, and meet the needs of a diverse population.
  • Career Coaching: Provide students with professional, individualized career guidance and support. Advising topics include resume and cover letter writing, choosing a major & career, self-assessment, interviewing skills and exploring internship opportunities.
  • Career Resources: Review, develop and promote print and online resources including industry guides, skill guides, online tools, and other resources as needed

Employer Engagement (35%)

  • Employer Management/Outreach: Maintain and solidify relationships with current employers and identify opportunities to expand relationships with more targeted local/global employers for NYU Shanghai students.
  • Employer Engagement: Plan, customize and implement employer programs and ensure that all events and policies meet the needs of the university, are inclusive, and follow legal and ethical guidelines.

Global Career Education & Job Development (10%)

  • Collaborate with staff, faculty, alumni, student leaders, employers on strategic design and development of resources, programs, and effective partnerships
  • Design and implement career workshops and seminars to enhance student understanding of career path, career related skills and industry-specific job search information and processes for careers around the globe.

Assessment and Marketing (10%)

  • Gather best practices and assessment processes to implement when developing an overall audit of career-related activities
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop marketing strategy and compose content for promoting CDC to students and other potential audiences.

Other Responsibilities (5%)

  • The manager will also support important areas such as office administration, CDC space management and supervision of fellows, interns and student workers.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Five years’ of experience in career services or other professional ?functions in higher education
  • Relevant experience in human resources, recruiting, or executive search in a corporate environment, to become adept with career coaching, employment strategies and general student development activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fully proficient in Mandarin and English
  • Good cross cultural communications, analytical and organizational skills;
  • Emphasis on presentation skills, with previous experience developing and presenting career development workshops and programs, and capacity to communicate information and key messages to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills are essential to the position due to intense interaction with corporate recruiters, alumni, staff, and students
  • Multitask skill and adaptability in a fast-paced multicultural environment
  • Proficiency in using computers, databases, social media (i.e We Chat, Linked, etc.) and comfortable in learning new technology
