上班时间：7:45-3:45，no bus duty

Position Title: Teacher Assistant

Position Summary:

A Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the teacher and assisting in the management of a group of children by providing a warm, nurturing, and safe environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected. A Teacher Assistant is under the direction of the teacher to whom s/he is assigned for the day/week.

Requirements

Education

[Required]

• BA degree or diploma in English education or related, PRC National Teacher Certificate

  Experience

  [Required]

• Two (2) years of teaching experience, or five (5)years experience as a teaching assistant

  [Desired]

• Course work in education and/or child development.

• Working in an international school setting and familiarity with the American educational system

• Working successfully with an ethnically diverse population

  Skills

  [Required]

• Strong English language skills

• Knowledge of the developmental needs of early primary-aged students.

• Strong interpersonal skills in order to collaborate with staff, parents, students and administrators.

• Strong organizational and time management skills

  General Expectations

• Continue learning about early childhood through in-service opportunities and on-the-job training.

• Work hours will be based upon the 192 days per year faculty calendar:

  • On regular school days, is on duty between 7:45AM and 3:45PM (4:15 if a lunch break without supervision responsibilities is taken.)

  • On meeting days, is on duty between 7:45AM and 5PM (as requested.)

• Other duties as assigned.

  Key Areas of Responsibility

• Support the teachers of a grade level team with their clerical needs.

• Assist in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of children.

• Work toward the optimum development of each child by

  • Encouraging children to work at their own pace so they are successful.

  • Providing opportunities for creative exploration in a safe, functional and attractive setting.

  • Treating children with dignity and respect while promoting democratic living, respect for the individual and self-control.

  • Expressing affection and helping children appropriately express it.

  • Seeking to understand and promote the spiritual, emotional, social, physical, aesthetic and intellectual growth of both the individual and the group.

• Communication

  • Communicate with Teacher any concerns about students or facilities.

  • Inform Teacher of any communications from parents.

• Inside Environment

  • Assist in providing safe and clean work/play spaces.

  • Appropriately supervise indoor activities. Continually move around and provide assistance where needed. Be observant and inform teacher of needs and/or problems.

  • Supervise use of materials and assist children in storing materials properly. Leave inside environment orderly.

• Outside Environment

  • Maintain outside storage areas in a neat, functional and safe manner.

  • Appropriately supervise outside activities. Continually move around area and interact. Be observant and inform teacher of needs and/or problems.

  • Supervise use of materials while in use and when returned to storage areas. Leave outside environment orderly.

• Outside Regular Work Hours

  • Attend in-services, as appropriate.

  • Attend Open House Evening and/or Back-To-School Nights for Parents, as appropriate.
