Objectives:

• With an investment of up to US$10 billion the new integrated site in Guangdong will be BASF’s largest investment and ultimately BASF’s third-largest site worldwide, operated under sole responsibility of BASF. BASF will install a steam cracker with a planned capacity of 1 million metric tons/year of ethylene and more than 40 process plants, which produce innovative and consumer-oriented downstream products.
• A strong Site Logistics Operations is important for the success of the new Verbund site. Site logistics connects the production facilities among each other, secures the raw material supply and acts as gateway to our customers. Time, costs and reliability of supply require logistics processes to be organized in a future-oriented way. The jetties and tank farm represent the site′s most critical gateway way for raw materials and finished goods. The Project Operations Manager ensures the right concept set up and the implementation of the state-of-the-art truck management and container terminal operations at the new integrated site.

Main Tasks:

• Concept development for site logistics
• Responsible for the planning of the jetty, tank farm and central filling facilities for BASF in South China based on business and site requirements regarding cost, schedule, quality and safety
• Development of an efficient and sustainable operations concept
• Implementation according to the site logistics concept:
• Ensuring the implementation of all the project's technology requirements in a complex Verbund setting, which includes compliance with Global Process Safety Concepts
• Together with the project team you achieve the requirements regarding cost, schedule, quality and safety
• Support the Commissioning Manager in preparing the Commissioning and Start-up Concept.
• Support the Maintenance Manager, if required, to build up a Maintenance Organization
• Support, the Project Manager with revisions to Project Applications
• Assist in preparing the plant for a successful start up
• Support trouble shooting and assist to resolve problems
• Single point of Contact for all Business Unit related activities
• Driving and coordinating governmental and BASF approval processes
• Coordinate and monitor the governmental permitting process and coordinate the application for the project's initial and final approval
• Support the Owner's Management Team with regard to all business related issues
• Gain commitment of business group resources
• Management of site logistics operations project team
• Leading a project operations team, including the coordination of commissioning, technology, maintenance as well as research and development aspects
• Managing conflicts that may occur in the course of the project and ensure the knowledge transfer from the project into the operation teams of the line organization

Requirements:

• Degree in industrial engineering, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering and have gained long term work experience (10+years) in operations or projects in Site Logistics environment
• 9+ years broad supply chain experience in a MNC, chemical industry is preferable / project management / 3+ years in leadership role
• Strategic thinker, Strong analytical skills, high communication skills, strong leadership, intercultural, interpersonal and project management skills.
• Profound knowledge in logistics technologies, optimization methods and operation processes
