Scope:

  

The Senior Organic Chemist is one of the key technical resources for process research & development, and process optimization. He/she will lead development project from conception to lab experiments & to pilot. He/she will conduct projects in process research & development, improvement and cost reduction and provide support to the production. 

  

 

  

Major Accountabilities:

  

1. To deliver new process routes for target molecules within cost and time targets both at laboratory and pilot scale.
2. To validate existed process in lab and optimize the existed process from chemistry point of view.
3. To support plant operations and raw material qualification.
4. To plan & lead the research development work so that the targeted time and cost dimensions of the research projects are met.
5. To keep FMC regularly updated on the progress of the research through formal reports/memos.
6. To ensure that the knowledge and intellectual property, which belongs to FMC, is adequately protected through systemic and behavioral means.
7. To ensure that FMC's standards of safety, health, environment and Responsible Care are implemented and sustained in all activities.
8. To manage and lead a technical project.

  

   Requirements:

  

1. Master or PhD in Organic/Organometallic Chemistry from a reputed Institute/University

2. 8+ years of experience in organic synthesis and process development in Agrochemical/Pharmaceuticals or Fine Chemicals in an industrial research laboratory or a research institute/organization.

3. Knowledge of both classical and instrumented analytical techniques particularly chromatography and spectroscopy and has ability to understand and interpret output from such analyses.

4. Knowledge of statistical design of experiments.

5. Thorough knowledge of product costing and its use in development of chemical process routes.

6. Basic engineering principles and can incorporate them into the design of lab experiments.

7. Project management knowledge & experience.

8. Excellent team work.

9. Self-motivated.

10. Communication skill, including report & presentation; English proficiency.
